MINUTES of the MINUTEMAN REGIONAL VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL SCHOOL DISTRICT COMMITTEE
March 5, 1974

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 8 15 p.m. The Chairman welcomed
Glen Pippert, formerly the committee member from Stow, who introduced George C Cormier,
the new member from Stow
Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted, with the correction of the last two
lines on page 1 to read, "Section 3 3 1 Salary Administration, with 1974-75 Salary
Schedule attached, for inclusion in the policy manual "
The Treasurer reported a regular account balance of $37,265 13 and a construction
account balance of $7,746 88
It was moved, seconded, and unanimously voted to transfer to the construction account
$2000 paid by the Federal Government to Minuteman for a sewer connection.
Ruth Wales reported for the Building Subcommittee that the building is progressing
® and that the contractor continues to be in compliance with the equal employment
opportunity clause.
The committee voted unanimously to accept the bid of the Garment Machinery Company,
Inc on laundry equipment, since this bid of $2,820 was the lowest one received on
this equipment
Lydia Smith requested that course outlines presented to the EDucation and Curricu-
lum Subcommittee be accompanied by a description of the methods to be used in
teaching the course
The committee voted unanimously to adopt the statement on prizes, awards, and
scholarships for inclusion in the policy manual
The committee voted unanimously to adopt the description presented of the four
levels of staffing as Attachment #1 to 3 3 1 Salary Administration in the policy
manual
The Superintendent-Director reported 582 applications for admission to Minuteman
received to date He presented an outline for the Instrumentation program and
the Assistant Superintendent's summary of transportation considerations In dis-
cussing transportation requirements, Charles Courtright requested that a price
be obtained on each item or operation involved in the system.
James Carifio, a consultant from Boston University, described his activities with
® the Minuteman staff

The Chairman reported that the bill on regional finance committees has been filed
in the Legislature and that a hearing on it will be held at the State House on
March 6 at 10 00 a.m.
The meeting was adjourned at 10 45 p m. , to be reconvened in executive session

In executive session the committee voted unanimously to establish the District
Secretary as a paid position at $550 a year ['
The committee voted unanimously to authorize the Superintendent-Director to employ
Miriam Chait as a full-time secretary at $8200 a year, beginning March 11, 1974
The committee voted unanimously to authorize the hiring of a person on an independ-
ent contractor basis at a rate not to exceed $2 00 an hour to duplicate and collate
materials for no more than 15 hours per week.

Approved March 19, 1974, with the following addition
"In executive session the committee voted unanimously to authorize
employment of a full-time temporary person to replace Pat Minty
working in the business office on bids at $150 per week."
