Harrison reported that he had received letter from the estate in which they informed him that they would not contri- bute toward the cost of cide-;alk work on Maple and Lowell Sts. 1.r. r arri on read a letter which he had written to the Edison Co. ordering a street light placed on Hancock Street near the junction of _Elm Avenue. Ur. Harrison recommended that the Police Department regu- latione that xr. Laguire, Acting; Chief formerly presented to the Board and which were turned over to Mir. harrieon, be accepted. The Board laid the matter on the table for one week. Ur. Harrison read a letter from the General Fireproofing Oo. of 125 federal St, Bocton, in wl-dch•they gave a figure of $371.25 for grill work to be placed in front of the Toy"+n Treas- urer's desk. tie also read a letter from The Hub Aire Cloth and -Wire Work Co. of 16-18 Canal ut, Bocton, in whic'`. they gave a figure of $120.00 for grill work with'an additional charge of $6 for a inch glass instead of a sheet steel ,shelf. The board instructed i,�r.farrison to award the bid to the Hub 'v ire Cloth and -Dire -4ork Co. lir. Harrison brought the subject of changes in the Board of Health Regulations up and suggested if agreeable that he and Dr. Barnes could go over same and make the neceeeary changes. It was voted that the Bourd of i,eal th regulations be accepted as changed byr Dr. 'Wm. L. Barnes and ir. Earrieon. `uIr. Harrison presented to r. Blake aide for new Locker Building on the Parker r'ield. No decision war made ae to building to be chosen. -r. Harrison requEsted r. Duffy to tell the story of Timothy Leary'e request for work of removal of snow. �x. Duffy explained that "r. Leary requested that his teams be put at wor'_i removing enorr in the center of thO town to which sir. Harrison informed him that he was not ,s sir. to run up the snow account when the work did not need to be done and just because Leary had teams out of work. Whereupon Leary said lie was going to put his men to work and he did, clearing the whole centre of the town of snow. Previous to his doing so he secured the signatures of several of the storekeepers in the centre of the town. The bill of $87.50 for labor was prevented. The Board did not approve the same for payment inasmuch as the wotk was not author- ized by anyone. Lr. Robert L. Ryder, ior,-n �dounrel, war prevent and turned over the Ctreet zieceptance regul_.tions with corrections. The Hoard voted to accept these regul�tion:, and to have the same printed for distribution. Airard carne before the Board as an applicant for the position of Chief of Folice. He stated that he was on the I.etropolitan iark Police 'sept. for the past 20 years. he has worked in evary reservation except the Blue Hills. he is 5J yrs. old. re vras informed that he could get one years leave of absence so th::t he could be on trial at lexin gton. The lsoa.rd informed him that within about 10 days the;- 1 ould be ready to make their decision. In this corm_- tion the Board voted to meet the other candidates for the position at 5 P. ,. on Tuesday next. In regard to ;ter. i:arrieon'e obtaining cooperatior, of the persons working in the office, the Board u.uthorized him to enforce tine regulations as to the hall being open from 9 to 5 and if he did not get cooperation to report to the Board. r L7 1 +i'ater & Sewer Dept. The coat of replacing the hydrant was $78.19. It Tran voted to place this matter in the hands of the ''o7rn Oouneel. ir. beaudry also reported that there was an unpaid water bill on hand of George J. Loggie. Ls. Log,;ie has left town. The bill wwe only $7.49. it was not deemed a sufficient amount to place in the hands of the Town �)ouneel for collection. A true record, attest: 41
