Co. for permission to erect a pole on "dame St. approximately 350 feet east of hancock Street. No person appeared to object and the Board therefor granted the petition. In response to a letter from the County Commissioners asking the Bo -.rd to state the amount they will probably expend in 1923 on s'+altham Street and the Concord Turnpike, the Board decided to notify them that they estimated they would spend $150000 on both those streets, provided the town so voted and similar sums were contributed by State or County. Letter war received from George L. Gilmore, Fuel Adminis- trator for Lexington stating that the price of Coke being charged by the Lexington Coal Company .is $16.00 pr. ton and asking whether or not the Board approved of this price. The Board replied that this price met with its approval. hearing was declared open upon application of Calvin W. Childs for permission to install a 1000 gallon gasoline tank at 99 Maes. Ave. This is in connection with the 1000 tank he already has on his premises. No persons appeared to object, and the Board therefor voted to grant the permit to install this tank inaeaachas there already exists one tank at the place and this additional one Is an increase in the capacity and for oil of a better grade. Letter was received from Clymer B. Long of oraltham St. stating that she signed a paper stating that she had no object- ione to the gasoline filling station at the corner of Waltham and diddle Streets. She wished, howevert to withdraw her name as being in favor of same. Letter was received from henry L. �badeworth, as attorney for the Torn in the absence of Mr. Hobert L. R7der, in which he gave his opinion upon the examination of the deeds of Depot Park in anticipation of passing the deeds to the town in accordance with the votes passed by the Town under date of May 22 , 1922. Letter war received from the Field and Garden Club in which the President, Kr. Emery, asked whether or not the path which had been made across the Buckman Park was made under the dir- ection of the Engineer. 1 1 Dear Sir or Madam: Lexington, hiaee ., Dec. 6. 1922. The Selectmen of Lexington desire to express their appre- ciation of the public spirited action of those citizens who have, by their generoue contributions of money, made possible the ac-quieition by the Town of Depot Park. The lande less a front strip fifteen feet wide to be used for widening Maesachusette Avenue, is to remain open for a period of one hundred years, unless in future this restriction shall be modified or released by mutual agreement of the Town and the Railroad. To you, as one of the contributors, the Selectmen extend grateful acknowledgmente. By order of the Board, '+illiam S. 6camman, Chairman, Mr. Philip Leaf and another resident of Cottage St. came before the Board and requested that two electric lights be installed on Cottage St. ' They were informed that this street being an unaccepted street an article would have to.be inserted in a Warrant to see if the Town would vote to install the lights. Quinn, Michael Powers, ivallace deisinger and possible Timothy Harrington are not citizens. Lir. Harrison war instructed to ark 111r. Duffy to give these men a week's notice that they would be through, and when necessary to be replaced to put on ;citizens in preference and in accordance with the Mate Law. Lir. 'Theodore A. Custance came before the Board at the request of Eugene V. Earle resident of ++ood Street. He stated that 11r. Earle understood that some work was to be done on good Street by the Board but that nothing had been done. He requested that he be given the ^treet line so that he could properly grade in connection with the new houses he intended to build, and also that the low section of the street be filled so that the water would not stand. Mr. Custance urged that something be done as the erection of houses -could bring considerable taxable property to the to -,.;,,n and would more than warrant the expenditure on the road. The Board agreed to again revive the request to the County Commissioners to establish the lines of the street and to figure on some iork being done there in the spring. idr. Laxrieon suggested that the portion of road that needed to be fixed could be done possible under contract. Lir. Harrison read a letter to the State and also to the County in which he asked that the State take over Maple Street from baesachusette avenue to Lowell St., also Lowell Street from Maple Street to Summer St. Extension,.also that a portion of Bedford St. be taken over as State Highways; and that they cooperate by providing funde toward the construction of 'Waltham St. and Concord t+venue. Mr. harricon reported that he awarded the bid of printing the schedules of renting the Town Hall to C. z. hadley at the eum of $13.60. Bid received from the Bart& Fress was $26, Letter was received from Lr. A. Dean in which he complkined of the excerrive amount of bill for sidewalk built along his premises. lir. harrieon was directed to look into the matter. The Board's attention was called to the fact that the haynes drain has not yet been cleaned out.
