Dear Sir or Madam
The Selectmen of Lexington desire to express their appre-
ciation of the public spirited action of those citizens who have,
by their venerous contributions of money, made possible the
acquisition by the Town of Depot Park.
The land, less a front strip fifteen feet wide to be used
for widening Massachusetts Avenue , is to remain open for a period
of one hundred years , unless in future this restriction shall
be modified or released by mutual agreement of the Town and the
Railroad.
To you, as one of the contributors, the Selectmen extend
grateful acknowledgments.
By order of the Board,
William S . scamman,
Chairman.
Mr. Philip Leaf and another resident of Cottage St. came
before the Board and requested that two electric lights be
installed on Cottage St.

street an article would have to be inserted in a Warrant to see
if the Town would vote to install the lights.
Dr. James J . Walsh, William J . Marshall and Irving B. Pierce
came before the Board in reference to aliens being employed by
194 zr
the town departments when citizens and legion men desire
CO
positions, and a reduction of the force was necessary zit this
time .
In looking over the Highway payroll it was found that
A. Quinn, Michael Powers , "allace deisinger and possible
Timothy Harrington are not citizens .
Mr. Harrison was instructed to ark iu.r. Duffy to give
these men a week' s notice that they would be through, and when
necessary to be replaced to put on titizens in preference and
in accordance with the state Law.
Mr. Theodore A. Custance came before the Board at the
request of Eugene V. L arle resident of hood street.
He stated that Mr. merle understood that some work was to
be done on wood street by the Board but that nothing had been
done .
He requested that he be given the street line so that he
could properly grade in connection with the new houses he
intended to build, and also that the low section of the street
be filled so that the water would not stand. Mr. Custance
urged that something be done as the erection of houses would
bring considerable taxable property to the town and would more
than warrant the expenditure on the road.
The Board agreed to again revive the request to the
County Commissioners to establish the lines of the street and
to figure on some cork being done there in the spring.
Mr . Harrison suggested that the portion of road that
needed to be fixed could be done possible under contract .
Mr. Harrison read a letter to the State and also to
the County in which he asked that the state take over Maple
Street from Massachusetts Avenue to Lowell St. , also Lowell
Street from Maple Street to Summer St. Extension, also that a
portion of Bedford 5t. be taken over as State highways, and that
they cooperate by providing funds toward the construction of
Waltham St. and Concord Avenue .

the schedules of renting the Town Hall to C . L. Hadley at the
num of $13 .60. Bid received from the Barta Frees was $26 .
