Kent of the Telephone Co. appeared to requeet that the petition be granted. .Petition of the New .Eng;. Tel & Tel. Co. for two poles on Vire Brook Road from 6altham St. extending present line toward aiinthrop Road, was granted. No person appeared to object and I,ir. Kent of the Telephone i7o. requeeted that the petition be granted. In answer to the application of Semonian Bros. the Board notified them that they would not give a hearing owing to the fact th:,t public convenience and necessity did not require another gasoline filling station on Woburn St. as one was recently granted to E. L. 1unroe for a location at the vor. of Lowell and Woburn Ste. In connection with the granting of gasoline licensee the Board voted: That in the future all permits for the erection of ' gasoline stations be granted on condition that the building be in process of erection within two months from the date the permit is granted, and in actual operation in ninety days from the date of permit, y'r. hatch reported that the By -Laws were being held up by the Attorney General for some trangs that he wishes to take un with k1r. Cotton brought up the fact that the Board should now line up their program for state highv,,ay construction work in Lexington as the State and County would soon be making up their budget. :vir. Harrison was requested to bear this in mind and talk with Mr. Duffy on same. The subject of aliens being employed by the town departments while citizens of the town are discharged was discussed. The matter was laid on the table for one week. 1r. Tenney called attention. to the fact that the traffic officer on duty at rmaltham St. should have white shoulder straps and wl-,i to gloves. L'r. harrison was requeeted to supply the officer with same. ' Mr. harrison reported that he intended to clear up matter: in Everett so that Monday he would be able to take over duties at Lexington without any interference with his work. �ir. Burnham stated that it was called to his attention that several streets in town had names that duplicated. rm It was considered that this was a subject for the planning Board to consider. ;sir. Burnham reported that Mr. Franklin_ P. Simonds wanted some work done on Grove St. ::r. Iarrieon was to attend to same. Kr. Harrison reported that he had requested bids on the printing of the Town Hall rental schedulee. The Board signed a Tarrant for a Town Meeting to be held Dec. 12th. Lr. harrison reported that lie had written to ;dr. H. H. Hanson ofthe i`i L B. St. Rwy Co. requesting them to put some gravel along aide of their tracks in front of 57 Bedford Street, this requeet being made as a result of an accident which occurred recently at that spot. 11r. ha:!Tison reported that the arrangement of keeping the hall open during the noon hours was working out satisfactorily. Cx7 1 Mr. Harrison reported that he had read the police department regulations which were prevented to rim sometime ago, and recommended that the regulations be adopted. A general discussion of the conduct of the Police Department was entered into. Mr. Harrison reported that he had written to Mr. Pryun give him definite figures on the installation of the Police system and that Mr. P ryun was taking the matter up with the Telephone office at Boston. to signal hir. harrieon reported that he had received a letter from l:r. F. L. Emery in which he complained of the sale of liquor at the Cafe operated by V. A. O'Brien on Kass. Avenue. He sent a copy of Mr. Emery's letter to the Federal Prohibi- tion Agent with the request that they aesiet the police department of Lexington in rounding up the violators. Mr. Harrison presented a plan drawn up by Mr. Duffy showing the places where :L'r. Harry I',. Aldrich claims the water was diverted so that it now floods his land so that he cannot cut the hay from the same. It was suggested that information be obtained.from Edwin B. `oorthen on same. Application for a Lexington Lumber Co. bill boird to be located l mile west of Lincoln 6t. on State Road was received from the State Department of Public J'+orke. No action was taken on same. Letter was received from the Edison Elec. Ill. Co. in which they informed the Board that they are getting estimated on changing the circuit on Bedford Street to the Lexington circuit rather the Bedford one. Water and Sewer Dept. I itiir. Beaudry war requested to find out from the Treasurer of the Savings Bank if he would honor the eignzAare of the Supt. of Public Works on the deposits of collateral in the Savings Bank. .r. Harrison reported that u.r. H. ,. Aldrich had purchased property on Hayes Lane and desired to have an extension of the water pipes made. ' 11r. Beaudry reported that it .^could cost approximately $3000 to make the extension. The Board felt that it could not recommend this extension this fall. Ilr. Harrison reported that the extension of water in the Suburban Land Co. property was working out satisfactorily to the parties interested. Mr. Harrison read a letter which he had written to the various plumber© in town in regard to bringing about an agreement whereby the plumbers could file a bond with the town in the amount of $4000 each and the work of sewer connections to houses from the street could be done by the plumbers instead of the water and newer department. Letter was received from Lr. A. K. Tucker in which he asked for an extension of time in which to make his newer connection. The matter was left with lar. Harrison to reply to.
