All Members Present.
Letter was received from the Lexington Building Trust ask-
ing that the Board urge the County to establish the lines of
Burlington, Grove and North Hancock Streete, at the hearing on
July 7th.
The Board acknowledged receipt of the letter and informed
Mr. Burgess, Trustee, that they were willing to cooperate.
Edward y'i. Taylor, Chief of the Fire Department, came before
the Board and explained that he inspected the building at 119 Masa.
Ave. with regard to fire laws and had ordered the building put in
shape as far as fire protection went. He stated that although he
had nothing to do with the building, he considered it unsafe as it
existed. He also stated that he would return to the building again
for another inspection to see if his orders were complied with.
Mr. James Fullerton came before the Board and the Board
approved his application for a peddler's license.
Letter was received from the State Department of Public -Works
in which they informed the Board that they did not care to estab-
lish a precedent by contributing one third of the cost of land
damage for the taking of land at the junction of Maple St. and
Mass. Ave.
The written opinion of the Town Counsel offering his resig-
nation to take effect as soon as the by-law entitled "Legal Affairs,
Suits and Town Counsel" was approved by the Attorney General, if
the same was approved.
Letter was received from Supt. of Streets giving his investi-
gation of the drainage conditions on Reed St. He stated that the
remedy for drainage conditions in the street would cost about $350.
Michael Kelley was granted a license to be a guide.
The dog warrant for the collection of unpaid dog licenses was
signed by the Chairman.
Mr. Fred Lundergan of 9 Sylvia Street, came before the Board
and as he was late to the hearing previously given for him he re-
quested that he be giveAlanother hearing on his proposed community
garage.

the Board held June 13th with reference to resurfacing on Mass.

Mr. Cotton reported that progress on the selection of
Superintendent of Public 'Works as follows:
On June 29th - Messrs. Scamman, Cotton, Blake and Burnham
of the Board present.
ConfErence with M:r.A J. Post of Boston, Ms. Slocum of
Lexington, Mr. Horne of Belmont and Christopher Harrison, Mayor of
Everett.
Of these it was decided to eliminate 11r. Post as not having
had enough experience.
Mr. Horne did not appeal as a candidate.
Mr. Slocum and Mr. Harrison were considered as worthy of
further consideration.
On July 5th, Messrs. Cotton and Burnham present.
Confrrence with Mr. Pierce P. Condon of Watertown, Mr. Lau-
rence B. Hoyt of 168 E. Emerson St. Melrose, and Mr. John R. Wolff
of 55 Mather St. Boston.
Mr. Pierce P. Condon's experience was limited to street
construction and he therefor did not appeal to the Board.
Mr. Hoyt was considered much more favorable than Mr. Wolff,
Mr. John Olsen came before the Board at 8 P. 11. Full
' Board present.
His experience seemed to be mostly street construction and
did not include any water or sewer construction.
It was voted to pay blies Ready $15 per week while employed
in the Town offices.
it was decided to request Mr. Richards to come before the
Board to talk over matters relative to the office of 'Town Treasurer.
Park Department.
A letter was directed written to Mr. F. L. Emery of the
Field and Garden Club asking that he have the triangle at the
junction of Woburn St. and Mass. Ave. trimmed.
Board of Survey.
zr. Griswold and Engineer came before the Board with his
plans of Lexington Park Heights for approval. Mr. Willard D. Brown
for the Planning Board also came before the Board.
1Er. Brown stated that this development should be connected
with the Lexington Park development so that the streets would lead
somewhere.
The Board approved the plan as far as that section easterly
from Bright Street was concerned, so that Mr. Griswold could sell
lots in that section. The Town Engineer and Mr. Brawn of the
Planning; Board were also requested to get in touch with Mr. Griswold
to work out some plan of development'so that the streets would
connect with streets of the Park development.

Water & Sewer Department. �
In regard to connecting the Town Hall with the sewer it was
decided to requeet 1Ir. BeaucLry to work out specifications so ,
that the Board could request bide from plumbers in town.
Letter was written to Ira. Anna Van Buskirk of Cedar St.
anavrering her questions in letter of June let, and advising her
that until the by-law accepted by town is approved by the attorney
general nothing will be done about putting water in Cedar St.
