Water and Sewer Department.
Mr. Hellman, of Cliffe Avenue came before the Board and
requested that an extension be made through the field from the
house now occupied by him to a new house which he built.
Mr. Tenney informed him that the pipe (6inch) would have to
be put in at the expense of the petitioner, and that if the
town extends the pipe up the main street, he would have to
agree to abandon the connection with the service across the
field and join on the main service.
11r. Hellman was informed that the Board had no authority
to lay pipes in unaccepted streets without authority of a vote
of the town.
It was left with Mr. Beaudry to map out the situation and
present same to Mr. Ryder to see whether or not it could be
done legally.
Letter was received from Mr. Emery in which he suggested
that assessments be made for betterments in cases where street
lights and water pipes are put in.
The Board acknowledged receipt of this letter and informed
him that they were working on this matter. '
On the Audubon Road situation Mr. Tenney reported that
Mr. Doe was having work done on the cesspool at hie premises
but it was not done in accordance with the specification of
Mr, Weston, copy of which had been sent to Mr. Doe and all
the abutters directly interested. Mr. Tenney stopped the pro-
gress of the work and informed Mr. Doe that it must be done
properly and that Mr. Beaudry would see that it was done so.
Mr. Emery requested that sewer pipe be extended to a point
on Oakland Street, and he could then extend a pipe across the
field to connect with the sewer. Mr. Beaudry informed the
Board that it would cost in the vicinity of $2500 to install
this section of sewer and it would serve about eight families.
In view of the fact that there were no complaints of over-
flowing cesspools in this vicinity, the Board decided that
there was no immediate need of extending the sewer to this
point at present, and requested Mr. Beaudry to so inform
Mr. Emery.
The Board voted to install a hydrant on Follen Road near
Summit. Road, provided the same meets with the approval of
Mr. Frank D. Peirce,
Mr. Beaudry reported that to do the work required on the '
Ryder land at the Munroe Brook would cost in the vicinity of
$700 to $1000. Mr. Ryder in this connection intormed Mr, Tenney
that if the Town did not remove this nuisance on his property,
that he could ask for a rebate on his taxes.
Not having had a reply from Arlington. the Clerk was dir-
ected to again write concerning their intentions.
Mr. Tenney requested that the suggested procedure prepared
by Mr. Ryder as to entrance into the sewer be considered at a
later date.
' sir. Beaudry brought the matter of having Mr. hunt connect
up with the sewer. the houses owned by him near the junction of
'Wallis Court on Mass. -Avenue.
It was left with Mr. Burnham to talk with Mr. Hunt and bring
it up for consideration at a later date.
