Insurance was also placed upon the pay roll of the Parke
and Playgrounds department to the amount of $27449 and $225
for instruction to be classified under teachers.
Mr. Hill was also authorized to arrange for a blanket
policy on boiler insurance* the same to exclude cracks and
fractures.
At the request of the School Committee Elmer A. Lord & Co.
were authorized to place compensation insurance on the two
drivers of the horse drawn vehicles based on a paroll of
$2100 and on the two chauffeurs on a pay roll of L400.
These men are dirvere of school bargee.
No action was taken on placing insurance on street signs.
In connection with the amendments of the building laws
which were approved by the Attorney General. the Clerk was
directed to have sufficient slips printed to insert in the
Building Law books which are now on hand.
Letter was received from residents of Curve Street in '
which they complained of the drainage conditions in that
vicinity and asked that the same be remedied.
The letter was acknowledged and the residents informed
that the matter would have the early attention of the Board.
In connection with this Mr. Cotton called attention to
drainage conditions on Locust Avenue.
An application for a third class liquor license was received
from 0. G. Seeley*
It was voted to grant Mr. Seeley, this license when a proper
bond to the amount of $1000 with surety was filed by him and the
application advertised as required.
A bid was received from Frank Cog¢er for the painting of
Village Hall two coats for the sum of $350.
Before awarding the bid it was decided to invite bids from
Edward C. Bailey and Edward H. Mara.
It was voted to grant a Common Victualler's License to
Caroline A. Harrington of 393 Maes. Ave., same to expire
Apr. 30, 1923.
Opinion was received from the Town Counsel in which he stated
that the title of the Board of Selectmen should be Board of
Selectmen and Public Works.
Complaint was received from Mrs. Bridget Leary of Taltham
St, that the automobiles of Hans Sorensen were annoying the
tenants in her house at the corner of Vine Street. She also
complained of the gasoline tank on his premises.
It was decided to request the Chief of the Fire Depart-
ment to notify the Board as to whether or not a license was
held by said Sorensen for the gasoline tank. It was also
decided to request the Police Department to report their findings
as to the nuisance.
It was reported that Mr. Arley A. Bur eas was demolishing
the Stone Crusher building for the sum of 100.
In regard to approving bills the following vote was passed:
"Voted: Any bill, draft or order chargeable to any
department and bearing the approval of the member
to whom such department was assigned for especial
attention in our records of March 21, 1922, may be
considered and deemed by the Town Accountant as
bearing the approval of this Board and authorizes
him placing the sum upon the Narrant for our further
approval when so approved. Further: Any department
not enumerated above or covered thereby is to have
its vouchers approved by the Chairman of the Board
for the Board."
It was voted to abate the charge of $76.60 charged
against the Boston & Maine RR. for installation If storm
drainage on Revere St. at the Boston & Maine RR. as the same
was charged in error.
The Board voted to purchase a Ford truck for the
Highway Department at the price of $762.00
It was also decided to try out the Fordson tractor
on the highway department.
The Board voted to devide their salary as follows:
Chairman, $200, other members $125 each.
