HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-11-03-YAC-min.pdf / C d' AGENDA FOR THE MEETING OF NOVEMBER 3 I Report on the Minute-Man article, November 12 and Town Board Reports II Report of Drug Advisory Committee III Discussion of Brainstorming list IV Where letters should be sent A Replace V Budget Minutes from the meeting of November 3 The following members were present at the meeting which was called to order at 7 15 p m by Nancy Anderson, Cole, Levi, Politi, Spencer, Miller, Gallant , Hoag, Miley, Boyle Hoag, Abelmann, Stevens,Gower The first order of business was on the proposed Minute-Man article about the Youth Commission It was decided that the commission would meet with Ann Scigliano on November 12 The exact time was not decided Cole suggested that we give Ann a hand-out consisting of our plans The next item of business was the report on the Drug Advisory i Committee's report Cole suggested that the commission read the entire report Politi reported that he didth' t believe that the report' s emphasize was placed entirely on Replace He also had several questions about the outreach workers that were mentioned bn the report Politi would like to speak with members of the Drug Advisory Committee Anderson spoke out about the report next She pointed out other activities for Jr High students She also stated that the report was primarily concerned with 1976 Cole also made some comments about this report You will recieve a copy of these comments at a later date It was decided that we would meet with members of the Drug Advisory Committee at our next meeting We also decided that we should make our opinions known to the Board of Selectmen, Drug Advisory Committee, and the Minute-Man A in writing Politi questioned the use of the Minute-Man article Next Cole suggested that a sub-committee be established to research the Community Relations Committee' s report which was found in the Minute-Man The members of this committee are Stevens, Miller, Levi, Spencer They will meet at 4 00 on Monday, November8 at Mrs Stevens ' home Discussion followed the establishment of this sub-committee and Cole stated that she believed that anything dealing with youth should be the concern of the Youth Commission The third item on our agenda was the discussion of the brain storming list Anderson suggested that we combine groups I and VII Politi motioned that a Sub-Committee be established to deal with law and law-related topics His motion was seconded by Spencer Discussion followed the motion X.� Politi withdrew his motion and Spencer withdrew his second Gower motioned that we find a suitable label for the eight groups, prioritize them, and establish a preliminary procedure for each sub-committee It was seconded by Miller Discussion followed and the motion passed The following titles were made for each of theeight groups Group I - Law related Group II - School related Group III - Goverance Group IV - Employment Service Croup V - Facilities Group VI- Communication Group VII - Police related Group VIII - Recreational Groups II and VI were combined to form Group II - Communication A list was made of the different groups according to our priorities Group IV - Employment Service Group I - Law Related Group II - Communications Group III - Governance Group VII - Police Related Group V and VIII - Recreational and Facilities Gower moved the we accept this list as our list of priorities and use it as our commission's schedule for the future Cole seconded the motion It passed Stevens questioned the idea of our priorities She didn' t want to research all year long Spencer moved to establish two sub-committees ( employment service and law related ) The motion was seconded and passed Research committees were set up Employment Service- Anderson, Miller, Levi Law Related- Gallant, Abelmann, Spencer, Miller Communications- Cole, Hoag, $y{Ue Stevens Anverance- Miley Boyle, Shine, Abelmann Police Related- Levi, Hoag Facility and Recreational- Spencer, Anderson , Shine The first name on the list for the sub-committees will serve a the temporary chairman READ THE ENTIRE REPORT OF THE DRUG ADVISORY COMMITTEE IF YOU DON'T HAVE A COPY OF THE REPORT, CALL NANCY AT 862-3901 PLEASE QUESTIONS READY FOR THE DRUG ADVISORY COMMITTEE REPRESENTATIVE ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 10 AT 7 15 • THE REPRESENTATIVE WILL BE AT THE MEETING AT 7 30 SO PLEASE BE PROMPT
