The following items/revisions will be presented to the Board of
oelectmen on the structurve and function of future Youth Commissions 31
1. The YC charge will remain the same ( see by-laws ) s'e
2 The Youth Commission should become a town by-law committeo t
(This produces complications because, if the YC becomes a by-
law comm. , only the members over 18 years old will he official t
voting membe s This defeats the purpose of youth represent- P; ,
ation on a youth commission Therefore an additional request i'
v ill have to he submitted to the 'arrant that the YC (if made '✓`
a by-law commission) be exempt from th0s4a M'n51rt e 6t-) k,.
3 That both adults and youth be represented on the commission. ` ''s
(The exact ratio has not yet been determined, nor has the , i:,
total size of the YC) r; '
4. The terms of office for the members be increased to 2 or 3 ..e
years (in. tead of 1) , so that the working members carry over s
from year to year as will the projects lcont _nuity) 4-
5 mxtremo care and selectivity be used to choose future members .
( find people who are really interested in the cause and will- 44
ing to devote much time and effort to Youth commission projects . • ni.
::
Also not neccessarily to chose representatives from other -k7
town committees ( for they do not consider the YC their top ), , n
prioriPy) , but to concentrate on finding people who will
consider the YC as their primary interest. ) 71,,, .
6. The YC should be a coordinating body to linktogether other
town committthes (og Recreation comm. , Co-op, CRC ) ':i,
(also the suggestion of appointing a youth member to the Recreation 9
Committee )
7. A publicity drive be made to publicize the IC, its goals and r I3'3
projects, also to involve many outside people, ideas ) ;,., ft_
8. A paid director/coordinator direct the IC
9, More support from the Selectmen, and perhaps more money. •v1)
