Lescalleet ) After a discussion of the proposed letter to the Board of Selectmen, IT was decided that since there was disagreement over the letter concerning certain facts, uses of words, and the general tone, we should nob send it to the Selectmen Instead a short letter was sent to the Board requesting a mooting with them. In this meeting we hoped to raise the points expressed in the letter, and make several suggestions to remedy the situation including those found on page 2 of the initial letter The short memo requesting an audience with the Seledtmen was sunt to them on Feb. 13 They contacted us and set up a meet- ing for Feb 23 An executive board meeting was called , and Mary, Ellun, Sue, R.nd Matt met to discuss what we would present to the Selectmen February 23 At 7 45 , Nancy, 11vn, Mr Hiller, Mary, Matt, Stove, Jeff, Trncy, Peter, Mary Anderson, Jeanne, and Sue, met with the, Hoard of Aoleetmen Mary acted as spokesperson swami tett. the Board She related to them our fo:1ings about the lack of communication between our two commii-ties,our frustrations with our relative in- activity, and the fact that there are other commissions in the town that are doing the kinds of things that the YC was supposed to do Mr. Kenny said that he accepted the fact that communications were not open, and expressed hopes that they may be improved Dr Kessler agreed that it would be a good idea for the CRC to consult the YO on issues related to youth, and appoligized for not having consulted us in the past. Ho stressed that these two commissions do not overlap but rather they compliment each other. The board decided to "make a deliberate effort "to use us more, and to toll other committees in the town that we are here to serve them on youth related problems Mrs Battin suggested that since there was some overlapping of the responsibilities of the communities in the town, a reconstruction Of the whole system was in order In the near future, Mrs Battin, Dr Kessler, some YC members, and some of the original Ad hoc group will meet to further discuss some of the alternatives. ea inee+I' Ai , r , (a,r•)( ,?;_y) x'2177(6'
