CORRESPONDENCE Chmn Barnes read a letter from the Selectmen containing
notification of the appointment of Richard Perry as Acting Town Manager
OLD BUSINESS Mrs Litchfield reported that she had sent letters of in-
vitation to those individuals who would be concerned with a July 4 fire-
works display for the meeting scheduled to be held on September 23 Mrs
Pierce of Volunteer Way cannot be present; she will, however, send a substitute
Chmn Barnes noted that he had been unable to speak with previous Town Manager
O'Connell regarding the status of the TCC appropriation account he will plan
to speak with Dr Kassler of the Selectmen
NEW BUSINESS Mrs Litchfield reported that the groups which normally par-
ticipate in the Veterans Day parade and ceremonies have been contacted Mrs
Hazel has spoken to the minister of Follen Church; she will be busy on that
day but would be pleased to participate in a future Lexington celebration.
Post #3009 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (Lexington Post) has requested
that the TCC invite the speaker of the day directly The Post will be
responsible for providing parade staff
Mrs Mitchell noted that she would be attending the Peabody Bicentennial Parade
on Sunday, Sept 19th in conjunction with Red Cross First Aid assistance and
will note both preparations and marching units while there
