The Finance Committee met with the Board of Selectmen to discuss matters relative to extra funds for the Highway Depart- ment. Residents of Lincoln St, Audubon Road and Hastings Road came before the Board in regard to drainage in their vicinity. The following persons were present: Jilliam Ii. Ballard, Harry 'vi. Patterson, `s'illiam h. Hannam, freeman C. Doe, Hubert C. Grieves, Charles H. Rudd, Mrs. A. H. Simonds and Ylise Hina Simonds. Their complaint was that they had water in their cell -are as a result of the bad drainage sy-tem in that section. They informed the Board that the matter had already been discussed with the water and sever department. hir. Richards informed the above named that he T,;ould take , the matter up with the Town Engineer. I+ir. Scamman reported that a complaint 'vq�e made against Doria Reeves in an auto transaction. A letter was ,xitten to I r. Reeves requesting that he be present at the next meeting of the Board so that they could hear hie side of the story. A request was received from the Salvation Army for the privilege of holding a meeting on Sunday, October 23, 1:;21 in Lexington. Hr. Richards agreed to select a location where the meet- ing could be held. Mr. Richards reported that he had investigated the system of keeping; records of the iosar. of Arlington Police Department. He found that they had a complete system which included a Daily Arrest Report, T,rhich ,,Tas later posted in an Arrest Ledger Police Blotters; Complete report of all accidents kept by Chief in addition to Blotters; Book for Vacant FIouees; Sheets for Stolen Autos; Roll Call Sheet. The bond of Joseph L. Zuretti for a public carriage license was approved by the Board, and a license granted to him. A release was received from Edgar A. Fernald for damages ' to his property on Woburn Street according; to the decree of the County Commissioners dated I -:arch 26, 1913. Damages amounted to $12 in this case. 1 1 1 The Chairman signed an order for the payment of X10,339.86 to John A. Gaffey of Medford on account of construction of Bedford Street. An invitation to visit the Lexington telephone exchange during the week of Oct. 17 to Oct. 22 inclusive was extended to the Board. An invitation was also received by the Board to attend the Eighth Annual Conference on City and Town Planning at Winchester on Wednesday, Oct. 19. The Board approved of a license being granted to :anuel A. Iledeiros of 21 Charles St, to sell fish, fruit and vegetables in Lexington.. x petition was received from the residents of ':ilson Avenue and Cliff .revenue in which they asked that two articles be inserted in the 'Jarrant for the next town meeting to see if the town will vote to install electric lights and to give snow plow service on `Til©on and Cliff Avenues. ri true record, l�tteet: G=. 33
