Cady who has recently been placed upon the permanent roll of the Police Department and who still more recently has been removed upon finding that he neglected his duty, came before the Board and requested that he be given another trial. He stated that he did not consider that his violation of duty was any worse than that of other members of the department. The Board agreed to take the matter up with the Chief of Police and see what he thought about giving Cady another chance. Two -lettere from James P. ;Munroe to Lriss Lora Leary together with blue print showing the area through which the right of way was in question, mere sent to the Town Counsel. This is in connection with determining whether or not the ' right of way can be closed up. In connection with the store being built by Thomas H. Breslin on his land at 637 Mass. Avenue, several letters were received protesting against the erection of said build- ing on the ground that it was not in accordance with the building laws. Two hearings were held on Sept: 30 and Oct. 1. None of the objectors were present. Accordingly hr. Breslin was granted a perr,.it to build a store accord- ing to the building laws by the Buildir+,­; Inspector. All protestors were notified to that effect. The Road Commissioners and the Special Highway Com- mittee were to meet on Oct. 6 at 3 o'clock to view the highways. Complaint was received from Henry S. Raymond of Clarke Street, relative to the boys playing on the school grounds after school hours. His letter was turned over to the School Committee. A public carriage license was granted to Arthur A. Marshall a Son, and also to Ralph H. 'La.rshall and Carroll B. Wetherbee to operate public carriages in this town. ' 29 I It was voted to grant the Edison Electric Illuminating Co. permission to attach its wires to poles of the New England Tele- phone & Telegraph Co. on 1,oreland Avenue near Fern Street. Permit was received from the State Board of Public 'forks granting authority to maintain the beacon located on the State Highway in Le..ington at the junction of Follen Road. Notice was received from the Massachusette Board of Education approving the application of Lester yiilson of 10 Vine Street also Robert L. Gillis of 44 Parker St. to attend the Somerville Vocational School for Boys at the tuition of $150 pr. yr. each. Notice was received from the Department of Public Utilities in which they stated that the Edison Electric Illuminating Co. had petitioned for an additional issue of capital stock. C. H. Rollins of Blossom Street called attention to the condition of Blossom Street, where large stones were dumped and not rolled in. He also called attention to the fact that Blossom Street needs a street sign. Authority was given by the Board to the Town Accountant to transfer $600 paid for constructing the culvert on Concord Avenue and also $1045.26 for constructing the culvert on Uoburn Street from the highway maintenance account to the Bond Issue, Highway Improvements for 1921. This was done because the Board was of the opinion that the above named constructions were of a permanent nature. The Board approved application for State Aid to Charles F. Alger of 29 Waltham Street to the amount of $6.00 per month. Mr. Alger has been receiving State Aid in dhitman. Mass. Mr. Cotton reported that i.Ir. Taylor$ tenant in the house at 333 liars. Ave. stated that he would endeavor to pay his rent, and that he is making preparations to move within a short time. Communication was received from the American Gas Accumu- lator Co. requesting a report on the beacon placed at Follen Rd and the State Road. The same was turned over to Mr. Duffy for reply. 1�Ir. Cotton reported that Mr. Eaton waa to give James Carroll thirty days notice that he would not be retained at the Town Farm after Oct. 309 1921. A true record, Attest: HS CLERK.
