MEETING, SEPT. 27v 1921. '
All Lembers Present.
The records of the Last meeting were read and approved.
The Board voted to place $10,000 insurance on the boiler
at the Parker School, the same to be issued through the office
of Edwin B. Worthen. The Clerk was directed to notify
Mr, Edward P. l erriam, Secy of the School Committee, that
this insurance has been placed.
A reply was directed to the circular letter of the
Governor relative to the unemployed situation. The Governor
was informed that the situation in Lexington was not serious
but if it did become acute a town meeting would be called to
remedy the situation.
A partial return was received from the County Commissioners
for the relocation of several roads in Lexington, including
Hancock Street.
Legal opinion was received from the Town Counsel -relative '
to selling vegetables on Sunday and week days.
Letter was received from the Tree '+garden in which he
informed the Board that the branches had been removed from the
large elm tree near the junction of Grove and Burlington Streets
but that.ovring to lack of funds and the fact that the tree
stood on private property he informed the owner of the
necessity of removal of the tree, in which case if it was not
taken down he would remove the same and assees the cost to
the owner of the property.
The Board informed the Tree d'Iarden that they still deemed
the tree to be a menace to the traveling public but requested
that the Tree 4arden get the advice of the Town Counsel before
acting in the case if he had not already done so.
Letter was received from Mr. F. L. Emery, Pres. Field
and Garden Club in which he informed the Board that unless
he was instructed to the contrary the club would cut the
grass and weeds from the Woburn Street triangle.
The attention of the Chief of Police was called to the
fact that 11r. Zuretti has not secured a license to operate
a public carriage and if found doing business in town he I
should be prosecuted.
;r. 7heeler, for the Lexington Park Development,
came before the Board to discuss the plan of the develop-
ment with the Board.
Mr. Duffy, Town Engineer, was present and agreed to
meet Mr. Branch, Engineer, and go over the ground with him.
He stated that it appeared to be fully agreed to as to the
plan when name was investigated at a previous 'date.
The State Department of Public Welfare approved of
aid being granted to Mrs. Anna Carpenter of 17 Fletcher
Avenues and also to Mrs. Sara Astor of Mass, Avenue, both
being Mother's Aid cases.
