MEETING, AUG. 23, 1921.
All Members Present.
The records of the last meeting were read and approved.
Amos Holman of Hill Avenue came before the Board in
regard to the fee charged for slaughtering. Mr. Holman
stated that most of the pigs he slaughtered were small pigs
and that he was paying his fee based upon these small pigs
while other slaughters were paying a fee based upon large
pigs, which netted them large profits.
The Board considered the matter and decided to amend
the regulation under which they charged a fee so that 10%
of the sucking pigs would be counted as one swine.
It was decided to notify the Slaughter inspectors to
divide their reports so that the same may be figured in this
manner.
Mr. C. Ca;terino came before the Board with reference to
securing an electric light on School Street.
The Board informed him that they would look over the
situation. '
Mr. Richards reported that Mr. Snow requested an electric
light at Camille Place leading off Bedford St.
The petition of the Edison Electric Ill. Co. for a
location for one pole on 'llashington Street was granted.
A public carriage license was granted to Francis H.
Ready provided he filed the bond required.
Letter was received from C. F. Holt of Oakland Street
complaining about the condition of the gutter along his
driveway on Stetson Street. The matter was referred to the
Supt. of Streets for his attention.
M.r. Henry Simonds complained of the condition of Wash-
ington Street. This was also turned over to the Supt. of
Streets.
A set of Rules and Regulations controling the erection
of bill boards were received by the Board. Also list of
bill boards now existing which should have permits if they
desire to continue the same. The Board decided to view
these bill boards on Friday, Aug. 26, and make report to
the State Dept. of Public Works. I
' A Class II license was granted to the Lexington Centre
Garage, Mr. Walter B. Hennigan of Newton, President and Treas-
urer and Geo. C. Coit, Winchesters Secretary.
A pool room license was granted to Kelvin W. Hinds to do
business at 4 Depot Square,
B. F. Brown & Son were authorized to renew insurance on
highway compensation expiring Sept. 8, 1921.
A letter was received from Mrs. Caroline A. Harrington
complaining of the condition of the sidewalk on Grant Street.
The matter was turned over to the Supt. of Streets.
Mr. Richards reported that he called on President
Hustis of the Boston & Maine RR. with reference to hurrying
along plans for the railroad station. He received assurance
from Mr. Hustis that just as soon as money could be secured
work would be started on the station.

The matter of collecting ashes from the town buildings
was discussed with the Supt. of Streets. He was instructed
to make some plan relative to the charge for collecting so
that the work may be started as soon as possible.
