A hearing was declared open upon petition of the New Eng- land Telephone & Telegraph Co. for location of one pole on Watertown Street, extending present line toward Bowman Street. No persona appeared to object and the Board therefor granted permission to erect the pole. It was voted to grant a Common Victuallers License to Hiram H. Whites to keep open the "Lunch Cart" at rear of #,445 Mass. Avenue. A letter was written to Chief Edward W. Taylor of the Fire Department in which was enclosed a copy of Agreement which was drawn up by the Town counsel for use of the Fire De- partment. This Agreement should be used to protect the town against a similar occurrence of a case such as the Chisholm case and the Chief was requested to have the Contract executed when employing outside labor. Mr. F. 'd. biller and fir. Frank Locke came before the Board with reference to the condition existing in the rear of their houses on Winthrop Road, and asking that something be done to remedy the conditions at once. The TownEngineer made an investigation and found that the pipe system which was laid in that section to take care of the drainage was stopped up. The question as to what department was responsible for keeping this drain clear was determined by the Town Counsel, he being of the opinion that it was the duty of the Water & Sewer Department to keep all brooks clear. A meeting was arranged for 'Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock at which the Mater & Sewer Board. the Board of Health, Town Engineer and Selectmen conferred as to the eoluation of remedy- ing conditions immediately. The Selectmen decided to 'draw a Warrant for a Town Meeting on Monday. the 25th of July, the town meeting to be held on August 4. 1921. Articles covering the claim of Mary Chisholm as a result of the death of her husband, were drawn up by the Town Counsel to be inserted in the Warrant. It was voted to grant John Rose a license to maintain the garage upon which a hearing was held last week provided the ' Fire Marshall approved of the same. A copy of the letter Rent to Mr. Rose was sent to the Chief of the Fire Department;. The janitor was notified to give notice to the Clerk of the Board when the Town hall is let so that the Board may be posted in this matter. I gdwin B. 'Worthen was authorized to renew insurance on blanket policy to the amount of $20.000 expiring August let. Letter was received from Harry L. Coolidge of 107 Mass. Avenue, complaining of the dust on Mass. Avenue between Oak Street and the Arlington line. he also called attention to the water standing opposite the Old Paint Shop near Oak Street. Mr. Joolidge was informed that the matter would have attention as soon as possible. Letter was received from Gertrude E. Mitchell of Maes, Avenue, cast Lexington. in which she complained of the con- dition of the land in the rear of 117 Massachusetts Avenue on account of the drainage. Miss Mitchell was informed that the matter would have attention as soon as possible. Letter was received from Mr. F. i,. Emery calling atten- tion to the gutter at the foot of Ctetson Street at its junction with Merriam Street. It was decided to have Mr. Luffy see that the same was repaired at once. The Board voted to construct a gravel sidewalk along the so-called Kendall property, now owned by the Lexington Building Trust. on Bedford Street, The Bupt. of Streets I was instructed to have the work done.
