HomeMy WebLinkAbout1979-09-13-TCC-min.pdf o TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE 9/13/79 Present - Chrm Fitzgerald, V Chrm Ray Flynn, Karen Gaughan, Paul Jenkins, Margot Tutun, Jean Coates, Jerry Hagerty, Dawn Brenchick, Fran Mallett Business - Discussion of date of Patriots Day Parade Committee voted unanimously for Sat 4/19/80 - feel we must discuss with Concord Received letter from board of Selectmen Historical Society - for T C C To have a celebration of Mass Constitution 200th Anniversary 6/16/80 Suggestion made to work into Parade Guests -- Lt Glenn Dyer - Bedford - British Militia Lt Francis Belcastro - Lexington - Lex Minute Men Brig Gen Calvin Chapin - Chrm Mass Council of Minute Men and Militia Capt James Lima - Lex. Police All guests were at T C C Meeting to discuss plans for re-enactment of British retreat from Concord to Arlington - 4/20/80 Plans as discussed & programmed - Necessity of having cooperation of T C C. and Town of Lex. and Police Dept. (a) Crowd control at Hastings Park - Munroe Tavern, Sanderson House. Necessity of roping off areas and planning for Parking areas (b) Requesting J H.S as a rest area (c) Plans should be completed by 12/1/79 T C C unanimously voted in favor of cooperating with M.M. on this project - will request Bills are picked up by Town Other business - Town Mgr Office requests - (1) Groups who will be allowed to have stands on Parade Day (2) Should there be a restriction on number of permits granted - if so - how many? (3) Should groups be restricted to certain areas? (4) Should each group be required to man own booths? - not contract out - Parade - We will recommend to Board - 4/17/80 - if we are in accord with Concord & Arlington Nov 11th Parade - Contact V F W for Marshall & aides Parade Planned - 10 a m.
