Select Board in 2024. James Lee has submitted an application and is awaiting formal
appointment.
Discussion of Lessons Learned from Memorial Day
Glen shared highlights of comments sent to the Google Drive, including posi?ve
comments re sea?ng and increased audience involvement.
Karen Tyler, who has par?cipated in and observed many different Memorial Day
observances, commented that TCC did an “outstanding job” and was “really
squared away.”
Kudos to Linda for overall planning and direc?on; Ashley for her superb narra?on
and scriptwri?ng; Pam for her on-site gree?ng and audience handling; Bonnie,
Cerise and Pam for liaison with Scouts; Lorain, Sandy, Sue, Yifang and Karen for
organizing the Memorial Walk lineup and par?cipa?ng in the Walk; and Glen for
his sustained leadership.
Despite confirmed arrangements, LexMedia did not show up to videotape the
ceremony, according to Sue. Geetha suggests a mee?ng might be helpful to
explore how we can avoid this in the future.
We should consider doing a musical salute again next year, focusing on the
Korean, Iraq, and Afghanistan wars.
Elec?ons
The commi?ee elected Glen Basse? and Geetha Padaki as co-chairs, and Lorain
Marquis as Treasurer, for 2024-2025.
Lorain Marquis will serve as Secretary, with these responsibili?es: 1) Prior to
each scheduled mee?ng, assign a commi?ee member to take the minutes; and
2) Post the approved minutes to the Town website.
Gresh La?more expressed an intent to rejoin TCC in September.
Ge?ng Early Start on 2025 Parade
Dave Grabel says no ?me to waste on parade planning. Several subcommi?ees
need to start now! One for parade; one for ac?vi?es on Monday, April 21. Watch
for Invita?ons to these working groups.
Dave has begun communica?ons with the event management group hired by the
Town for Lex250.
Lex250 Update
TCC will con?nue to conceive, design, and execute their plans in their normal
way; however, we must review these plans with Lex250, keep them updated, and
receive their buy-in before proceeding.
The July 13 celebra?on is on track and proceeding well.
Some issues have occurred with the planned monument, causing a delay in the
process.
Other Issues:
Lorain is having difficulty accessing our storage room at the Community Center
under their strict policies. She has worked out an arrangement with DPW where,
with adequate no?ce, DPW rep Manny Cabral, 781-389-1114, will respond
promptly to provide TCC with access.
The TCC shirts recently bought by commi?ee members are generic shirts with no
commi?ee iden?fica?on. Sondra has located a provider who can embroider
these shirts with “Town of Lexington Celebra?ons Commi?ee” for $15 each. The
Commi?ee will absorb this cost and all interested members should deliver their
shirts to Sondra.
Lorain Marquis will host the commi?ee Summer Social at her home at 62 Valley
Road on Wednesday, July 24 at 6:00 p.m. Sondra will oversee food contribu?ons.
The meeting adjourned at 8:36 PM. Next meeting: September 11, 2024
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Dixon
