Minutes of Meeting May 15, 2024

Business:
The Meeting was called to order by Co-Chairman Glen Bassett @ 7:10PM.
Minutes of the 5/1/24 meeting to be sent to all members prior the 5/22/24 meeting; approval of the 5/1/24
minutes will be voted on at the 5/22/24 meeting.
Memorial Day Planning:
From 7:15-8:10PM: Linda Dixon presented Memorial Day plans with screen sharing detailed information
for the celebration on May 27, 2024. Lorain will assist to provide stands at each wreath location.
The bus will meet the group @ the Battle Green Obelisk, which is the first memorial in the Pre-Wreath
Walk. Anyone not marching in the Wreath Walk can meet at Emery Park/Depot Square @ 10:30AM to
help DPW set up and greet the procession. Sandy reminded us that carnations will be laid at Civil War
graves during the walk.
Karen asked if DPW will help plant flags at Westview Cemetery. Karen to coordinate with DPW.
Linda advised that the Poppy Project persons will put out the poppies at Emery Park on Sunday. Poppies
will remain in place all week until Saturday.
Jeff Leonard and Jason Ianuzzi from LHS will recruit performers from LHS to assist with the narration.
They will have a rehearsal on May 25, 10am at location TBD.
Glen advised that TCC will not reserve Battin Hall as weather backup which costs $800.
Ashley will cancel Church of Redeemer which was another back up for cost.
Glen confirmed that the Town has issued permission to use Emery Park, subject to completion of an
online reservation system which is pending and that the Select Board will consider TCC’s request as a
Consent item at their meeting on May 20. Linda will meet DPW to review logistics for Emery Park.
Sandy will coordinate sandwich boards with DPW and has put up some fliers. Memorial Day is posted on
the town website.
After the Ceremonies on May 27, the TCC group will meet for our annual photo for the Town Annual
Report and decide on a location to meet up for lunch (pay on our own). Glen will provide a updated
contact list of TCC member cell phones; Glen asked that any cell phone updates since Patriots’ Day be
sent to him and that he would ask the 3 new members, Huma Wasim, Perla Walling, and Mirela Vaso for
their numbers to include on the list.
Cerise will ask LPD for a cruiser at 9:30 at Munroe to lead the Wreath Walk and step off from Muzzey
High driveway at10:15 am for the procession to Cary Memorial Blg and then to Emery Park.
Ashley thanked the group for the gift certificate for her recuperation and offered to host a summer time
party when she is up and running again.
LEX 250 Update: Cerise reported about the LexSeeHer Monument Unveiling today.
We anticipate stakeholder meetings to be scheduled for Fall for planning Patriots’ Day April 19, 2025
(Saturday).
NEXT MEETING: May 22 for Memorial Day run through.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS: June 5 Meeting. TCC members should start thinking about what roles
you would like to undertake.
