Minutes of Meeting
June 22,2017
A meeting of the Community Center Program Advisory Committee (CCPAC)was held on Thursday,
June 22, at 7:00 p.m. at the Lexington Community Center, 39 Marrett Road, Lexington.
Meeting Attendees: Members - John Zhu, Lisah Rhodes, Alessandro Alessandrini,Nancy Adler, Dan Palant,Nancy
Shepard(Chair)
Ex-Officio Member Attendees: Charlotte Rodgers (Director of Human Services), Christine Dean (Community
Center Director)
Unable to attend: Archana Singhal, Melissa Battite (Director of Recreation & Community Programs)
The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm.
1. Introduction of Community Center Director
Christine Dean started on May 1. This was her first meeting with the CCPAC. She gave members some
information her background. All attendees introduced themselves.
2. Minutes of April 27, 2017
The minutes from the April 27th meeting were reviewed and unanimously accepted.
3. Liaison Reports
The Historical Society and Board of Selectman (BOS) should have liaison representatives to the CCPAC.
Christine has reached out to Kelly Axtell about who will serve in these positions.
4. Community Center Director Updates
o Programs & Facilities
Three summer interns have started working on Marketing,the Program Brochure and at the Reception
Desk.
Grants have been received from the Dana Home Foundation for the Forever Fit program and from the
Community Endowment of Lexington for CPR classes and training.
The Woodworker's Guild at LACS donated a bench which is in the front entryway.
An artist from the Munroe Center is donating some paintings to the CC.
There are many upcoming programs for families.
The Electronic Calendar will be scrolling on screens in the lobby.
There is a hand-held translator that helps communication with patrons who speak other languages. The
town has a list of people in Lexington who can translate documents into other languages.
o Human Services
Charlotte reported that they have a new social worker in their dept.

There will be four new Lexpress busses.
There is a new taxi contract with Checker Cab in Woburn.
They held a Middle School Learn Lexpress event. They hope to increase participation in after school
programs by adding Lexpress as a transportation option.
There is new prevention programming-Narcan training, QPR(suicide prevention)training and Mental
Health First Aid for Youth training for adults.
5. Building Information and Rental Fee Proposal
Christine presented the proposal for Priority of Use for the CC. There are 4 tiers.
There was a lot of discussion about how to determine proper use within the CC.
There was a concern about people using rooms to conduct their business. Christine will consult with the
Town Manager's office to determine proper wording for the policy.
There was discussion about how to give Lexington residents priority for programs and whether program
attendees should be required to have membership cards.
We want to be sure that our policies are aligned with the Schools, Library and Town Building for usage
guidelines,priorities and fees.
We discussed whether there might be a need for terms of use for the WiFi at the CC.
o Motion- To support development of a set of criteria for priority of use and determine fees associated with
usage when approved. Unanimously Approved.
6. Call for Subcommittees
Christine and Melissa worked on a list of Subcommittees that can support the CC.
The Categories are:
o Programming and Special Events
o Building Interior
o Building Grounds
o Building Use
Members of our committee are encouraged to work in these areas to help make connections and network in
the community and to help publicize events.
It was suggested that Fundraising be added as an additional category and that Building Support for Phase 2
of the CC should be a separate category.
It was suggested that a Friends of the Community Center Committee be considered and that volunteers could
also be helpful with some of these tasks.
Sandro suggested that the CC gets listed as approved for Community Service by LHS students. Students
could also help in some of these areas.
Next Meeting: July 13th at 7pm
