HomeMy WebLinkAbout2017-10-11-TCC-min Town Celebrations Committee Minutes of Meeting October 11, 2017 Parker Room, Town Office Building Members Present Lorain Marquis, Chair; Suzanne Caton, Dick Crogan, Carol Flynn, Karen Gaughan, Mary Hutton, Wayne Miller, Bill Mix, Henry Murphy, Geetha Padaki, Sandy Podgorski Members Not Present June Baer, Glen Bassett, Kim Coburn, Linda Dixon, Cerise Jalelian, Paul Jenkins, Linda Levitt, Sondra Lucente, Julie Miller, Gina Rada, Sue Stering, Dave Taylor, Bob Tracey, Sam Zales Business • The minutes of September 27, 2017 were approved. • The next meeting will be on October 25, 2017 in the Parker Room, Town Office Building. • Lorain displayed samples of vinyl name badges for possible committee ordering. The committee agreed that the larger size was preferable and Lorain asked Carol Flynn to follow up on ordering them. Veterans Breakfast, Saturday, November 4, 2017 • Bill Mix asked if the committee has the Merchant Marine service song. Dick Crogan said he would find and copy the song for the Veterans Breakfast ceremony. Bill confirmed that he would order the flag. • Sandy Podgorski announced that the slide show for the breakfast is now complete. Seventy-five veterans are included in the slide show. It has now gone for processing. • The Lexington Rotary will contribute up to $750 to cover the costs for veterans at the breakfast, so we need to know how many at the breakfast are veterans and how many are guests. • Karen Gaughan has confirmed that St. Brigid's will let us use their sandwich boards in front and back entrances to the parking lot to advertise the breakfast. Karen will get the posters printed. • Lorain has ordered the food for 200 people for the breakfast. Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2017 Ceremony in Cary Hall • Lorain reported that there are 3 possible responders to the request for High School students to participate in the ceremony. Other Reports Dance Around the World: Geetha announced that the March 3, 2018 date for Dance Around the World is confirmed. She is in the process of finding volunteers to assist in the planning. She plans to put an article in the Minuteman and Colonial Times asking for participation from community groups. Patriots Weekend: • Lorain mentioned that the Town is asking for TCC's rules and regulations about which type of parade units are allowed and not allowed. • Lorain mentioned that the online parade unit application is not live yet but that she hopes to get it completed and available online soon. Sponsorship Subcommittee: Suzanne updated the TCC on the progress made by the Patriots Day Parade sponsorship sub-committee. She and Linda Dixon met with Dick Michelson to discuss possible changes. Next step is to talk with LexMedia about interviewing sponsors.
