Business
• The minutes of October 25, 2017 were approved.
• The next meeting will be on November 8, 2017 in the Parker Room.
• There will be NO meeting on November 15.
Veterans Breakfast, Saturday, November 4, 2017
• Bill Mix reported that the Merchant Marine flag will not arrive in time for the Veterans
Breakfast although it has been ordered.
• Bill also reported that the Minutemen fifers will attend the breakfast and plan to play the service
songs, but that Dick Crogan should still bring the recorded music just in case.
• Lorain reported that she has the slide show disk.
• Lorain reported that the Community Center has donated LexPress vouchers as a door prize at the
breakfast.
• Karen Gaughan reported that the sandwich board poster for the breakfast was installed in front
of St. Brigid's last Sunday.
• Set up for the breakfast will be on Friday, November 3, at 3 pm.
• Committee members should be at St. Brigid's for the breakfast at 7:30 am, November 4.
Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11, 2017
Ceremony in Cary Hall
Sue Stering reported on the participation by High School students in the ceremony.
• A total of 15 essays by Juniors were received and there is a plan to make a booklet of all the
essays.
• Four winning essays will be read at the ceremony.
• Special seating for the students and their families will be provided at the ceremony.
• All students who submitted entries will be invited to march in the parade and they will be
invited to attend the ceremony with their families.
• Kim Coburn will write thank you letters to all the students who submitted essays.
• LexMedia is expected to air the ceremony live.
Lorain reported that Michael Egbert, the High School teacher with whom the committee has been
working, has organized a panel discussion by veterans at the High School on November 7, from 12:45
to 1:30. All TCC members are invited to attend.
Other Reports
Sponsorship Subcommittee: Suzanne reported that she has sent letters to Carl Valente, Town
Manager, and the Board of Selectmen describing the planned changes to the Patriots Day Parade
sponsorship program and asking for their feedback.
Dance Around the World: Geetha has drafted an announcement about Dance Around the World
which she will send to the committee for comment before she submits it to the media. She hopes to
have a planning committee organized and meeting in late November.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
