Review of handouts & minutes
Attendance:
Present: Seetha Ramnath (Chair), Amy Kaser (Treasurer), Jessie Steigerwald, Lynne Klemmer, Jean Hart,

WELCOME - Chairperson
a. Significant interest to host another Aloft event on October 25th - Artepreneurs mask event before
Halloween - come as you are or as you aren't
b. Introduction of membership renewal
c. Cary Library - will invite Koren to next meeting per her request to coordinate efforts & join future
meetings
d. Regarding 2 open positions, Seetha will post in Minuteman and artist lists & has reached out to
Council for Aging and have not heard back on whether there is interest for new council
membership. Jessie will reach out to Susan Larson.
2. REPORTS
a. Secretary's Report
i. Approval of previous meeting's minutes (May - Lynne motioned, Jessie seconded, June
2017, Laurel motion, Amy seconded)
b. Treasurer's Report
i. Review of numbers for annual report (due September 2017)
ii. Review of 2016 Grant reimbursements - until end of September $1550 unclaimed - need
of how best to adjust strategy to allocate funds for next year,
iii. Review of 2017 Grant submissions/reimbursements
iv. Reconciliation of current balances - Local $2300; $9500 total
c. Grants Report
i. Discussion of any grant events Council members attended last month
ii. "Local Priorities" updated on website
iii. Online registration
iv. Grant application advertisement
Communications Report
i. Website:n n nr,;,ll,ex ;ir ,ca,:)u,in,ciillaa,irg - updated with information about online grants, several
new arts businesses added (more needed for completeness
ii. Interest in inviting regional LCCs to Lexington for a "lessons learned" or strategy sharing
session - aim for February/March 2017; Seetha will send emails to LCC chairs.
iii. Jessie introduced Lexington Coalition's charge and requested Arts Council representation
for the January 2017 sessions to get the word out about Arts therapy in the community
3. NEW BUSINESS
a. Award Selection - 2017 Breakthrough artist award winner is Joel Kowit. Seetha will contact Board
of Selectmen, Lex Media, Minuteman and Accounting to arrange for presentation of award. Motion
by Jessie Steigerwald. Seconded by Jean Hart.
b. Calendar Meeting days/times for 2017-18 October meeting changed to 10/23 due to Columbus
Day. Will contact Koren to join.
c. Confirm Grant Evaluation process for 2017-18 - discussion of form
d. 2017-18 Projects:
i. Laurel confirmed logistics for November Center ArtsWalk - Nov 6 -29th in Lexington

Center. Reception Nov 16th Reception at Brookline Bank.
ii. Jean updated us on Special Needs Arts Program on goings @LACS this week & Korean
Cultural Society
iii. Lynne has expressed interest in leading Parade arrangements and activities
iv. Discovery Day (Memorial Day w/e) will be TBD
V. Affordable art show per discussions last year plan for Spring 2018?
vi. Strategic arts & culture plan - who can volunteer?
e. Coalition - Jessie Jan or Feb Arts Month coffee - Teen classes from Laurel, LACS with Jean all
possibilities

a. Next LC4A Meeting: TBA October 2017 - location TBA
5. KEY DATES for MCC grant cycle
• September 1st • LCCs must have Council Priorities and updated contact info posted on Council
Profiles.
• Applicants start applying using the online application form.
• October 16th • Deadline for applications.
• Deadline for Sections 1 and 2 of Annual Report.
• November 1st • Applicant data available in Annual Report at .x666 ..f i ; , ,;;;; u�i,.1u iirc,;;,aa,irg.
• Panel Books available to LCCs.
• December 30th • Deadline to complete voting meeting.
• January 15th • Deadline to complete Annual Report.
