2. Update on Playground Work is scheduled to be 10 minutes
Plans done by start of 2017/2018
school year
• Town will provide funding for
plantings instead of private
donations.
3. Publishing Survey Discussion on how to get 10 minutes
Results results to parents and how
previous results were shared
with community.
• Possibly share results with
parents at the last "Let's
Chat" which will be an open
discussion on May 19.
4. Let's Chat about Recess • Next Let's Chat will be on 10 minutes
Tuesday April 25.
• Recess has become an
important topic of
discussion.
• Often conflicts occur at
recess and children don't
know how to communicate
those issues and with whom

to discuss the issues.
• How do these issues get
communicated to teachers
because aides are
supervising lunch and recess.
• There is now a recess
suggestion box so kids have a
forum to discuss issues that
come up.
• Have more discussions in the
classroom about recess
especially with the younger
grades about rules and
expectations.
• Discuss skills on negotiating
conflicts and maybe
purchase more social skill
development books.
• Guidance lessons on how to
make healthy decisions.
• Review recess rules when
seasons change.
• Research the "Boks" program
as additional before school
program. Other schools have
this parent-run program—
look into implementing it at
our school.
5. School Improvement • Academic Areas— Literacy 25 minutes
Plan for 2017-2018 curriculum is changing.
• Possibly replace Instructional
Coaching goal with
Technology "G-Suite"—
transitioning to google drive,
google classroom, google
forms for assessments.
• Keep RTI — maybe
incorporate WIN blocks and
combine reading & writing
blocks.
• Change bullets to letters.
• PBIs not needed going

They work with teachers and
guidance counselors as
needed and this approach
addresses concerns more
quickly.
• Training for SSPs ongoing—
incorporate pro-social
approach to learning.
• Playground improvements
completed.
• Discussed goal of building
student resiliency.
• Peer pressure and substance
abuse— possibly more
discussions on this.
• Provide more resources for
parents and teachers.
• Incorporate in the classroom
—for example, discuss a
character in a story for
younger children. Redefining
success for students.
