have happened in mathematics.

values Safety, Responsibility, Respect and Determination. Successful
this year. Creating a bulletin board in front office
Welcoming New families Ï continue to welcome families. Two in last
two weeks and two more in January. We anticipate more in spring.
Grade 2, three classes of 25. Grade 5, two at 25 and one at 26.
Kindergarten we are overmax in two of four classrooms. Grade 3 is
smaller than others. Net increase of approximately 20-25 students this
academic year. ELL population has grown tremendously. Approved for
an additional 1.0 ELL teacher.
Safety Ï updated training on ALICE protocols in fall. LPL and AK met

which are time sensitive
Park, Lock and Walk. Program initiated last June -- a police officer visits
the building about once a week. Members of the police force who are
on patrol. Walk the building, goes out to recess. They interact with kids
a bit Ï see them as valued and approachable community helpers. Has
been helpful for police officers to learn the layout of the inside of the
building.

Options renovate and bring up to code Ï not a viable
Renovation and addition Ïconstruction cost very similar to new building
New building; architects have three locations on the property. The
preferred location maximizes green space.

committee vote.
Binder sent to MSBA on January
Review of floorplans. Goal to be LEEDS certified. School could be a
place to go in case of emergency.
Motion to adjourn by Betinna. Seconded by Curt
There are folks in town who are proponents of model school. There is a
third option called a hybrid, which allows for additional changes. Next
steps is field trips, lots of folks should tour Estabrook. LPL will take a
small group to a variety of schools in different towns built by a variety of
designers.
Hopefully override vote would be early fall 2017. The town may be
asked to vote on several projects at the same time, which can be a
challenge. Likely open in late 2019 or early 2020.
Permanent building meetings are public. Curt Barrentine and Andrew
Clark are Hastings representatives.
11/1/16 at 11:00 am MSBA Hastings kick off meeting, including a tour.
This process is time consuming yet helpful to review our educational
program closely as we design the facility for next approximately 50+
years.
Student Assignment Ï buffer zones. Supt is looking for flexibility to
allow for student assignment based on school enrollment. Working on
centralized registration process, very beneficial to the schools. Topic of
school committee meeting 11/1. All Kindergarten classes have over 20
students (only Ks in district with over-max aides). ELL population over
80 currently, up from approximately 50 last year. Hiring another full-
time ESL teacher (2.3 FTE). Next year three full time teachers.
Community celebration for Halloween Party was very successful, though
attendance down.
Motion to adjourn: Louise Lipsitz requested a motion to adjourn. Jane
Kalinsky made the motion and Rachel was a second. All members said
aye.
