All approved minutes unanimously. 2.Building project: updateÐNext stage Educational Program Document written by LPL with input of designers. All department heads and Pat Goddard met with LPL and designers and reviewed the draft. No changes in program other than expanding enrollment; our district wide program makes our program unique in terms of space allocation. Recently held a visioning workshop with staff and community members. Nicely done opportunity to share ideas in three small groups to think about various areas of the building (entry way, front office, playground, etc). These notes will be shared. 3.Document has been finalized and will be presented to school committee 11/1/16. Donna Dinisco, Pat Goddard, LPL. Must be approved by permanent building committee and sent to MSBA. MSBA votes on it by January. We must prove we cannot renovate or renovate and add to meet needs. 4.Model school program, put in place by MSBA, which allows a community to choose a model and place on your site (with very minimal changes). Designed to speed up the process because already vetted by MSBA. We are precluded from choosing Estabrook, for example, as a model due to lot site, our special education needs as well as the needs of the stakeholders. 5.There are folks in town who are proponents of model school. There is a third option called a hybrid, which allows for additional changes. Next steps is field trips, lots of folks should tour Estabrook. LPL will take a small group to a variety of schools in different towns built by a variety of designers. 6.Hopefully override vote would be early fall 2017. The town may be asked to vote on several projects at the same time, which can be a challenge. Likely open in late 2019 or early 2020. 7.Permanent building meetings are public. Curt Barrentine and Andrew Clark are Hastings representatives. 8.11/1/16 at 11:00 am MSBA Hastings kick off meeting, including a tour. 9.This process is time consuming yet helpful to review our educational program closely as we design the facility for next approximately 50+ years. 10.Student Assignment Ï buffer zones. Supt is looking for flexibility to allow for student assignment based on school enrollment. Working on centralized registration process, very beneficial to the schools. Topic of school committee meeting 11/1. All Kindergarten classes have over 20 students (only Ks in district with over-max aides). ELL population over 80 currently, up from approximately 50 last year. Hiring another full- time ESL teacher (2.3 FTE). Next year three full time teachers. 11.Community celebration for Halloween Party was very successful, though attendance down. 12.Motion to adjourn: Louise Lipsitz requested a motion to adjourn. Jane Kalinsky made the motion and Rachel was a second. All members said ÑIÒ
