One idea is to have a first grade coffee hour, where families can come and chat with people who are experienced with the split classroom. Building Project~ CM at Risk- interviewed six firms over April break, who would work with the architects during the design process, we hired Walsh Construction. Geo-thermal heating- Over the break, we had a thermal well test, where they tested the heating to see how many wells will need to be dug. We are looking at a closed loop system for thermal heating, which is completely underground and doesn’t require us to replace the pump every 15 years. Next steps in design process- There is a meeting every other Wednesday to talk about the design, hoping the override vote will reimburse us. If the vote passes, construction will begin Summer 2018, with a move in date of the 19-20 school year. * In the fall, we need to think about temporary drop-off routes. At this time, we’ll start looking at an increase in bus riders and the potential for more buses. Investigate the possibility of free busing to Hastings during construction (potentially done at Estabrook?). SIP~ ALICE drill planned for May if all support staff are available- -police will come in and simulate violence in the building and teachers respond. Year end presentation to School Committee June 6th SIP 17-18 Membership for 2017-2018
