Future Site Council Dates: Friday,April 28th June date- discuss on April 28th Member Topics: -PTA Fundraiser: March 17th at Cary Hall - Teachers have really stepped up and offered many auction items. -210 people currently signed up to attend. Update on the building project -Community Fundraising to create a student mural in the new building, done by the same artist who created the Hasting’s mural- David Fichter. -Louise talked to David and Denisco about preserving our current mural through photographs to bring to the new building. -Ball park estimate: 30,000 to create. -After talking to school community about private donors, it is not the policy to put names on plaques to represent the families who donated. Would be presented as a gift from the Hastings PTA. -Projected two years of fundraising to raise money for the mural, starting on March 17th -People will not be as drawn to giving because names will not be recognized and its two years down the road. -What would the fundraising look like to get us to the projected value, it won’t come out of the money for the new school. -Will this year’s current 5th graders be able to contribute to the mural? -Could be presented as from the Hastings PTA and the greater community. -For the fundraiser on the 17th, have a slide show of the mural to remind community of how much we love it. -Connect with Hastings alumni through their high school reunion to get the word out - Sustainability in the new building- The selectmen and the school committee agreed that the building would be designed with no fossil fuel- will be an electric building, which adds cost to the project. CO2 in the classroom is controversial- 600 parts per million is optimal. This would cause very dry air in the winter- eye irritability, bloody noses, skin irritability, etc. The desire is to get it to 710-800 parts per million to maximize the fresh air intake. - Voting in November of 2017- after it goes to the town meeting. If the vote is approved, allows for early bidding projects- allowing for construction to begin as early as possible. -February 15th MSBA board met- they voted us through with the new design -One wing of the building will be very public- allowing it to be used by the public. The other wing will be closed off- where the classrooms are. Teachers College in March
