Associate Commissioner Absent: st Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy called the August 1, 2024 Historic Districts Commission meeting to order at 6:02pm. FORMAL HEARING Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the formal hearing for 1364 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior alterations (Reroofing) in the Munroe Tavern Historic District Documents Full plan set of proposed alteration: dated July 11, 2024 Photographs of entire place of each building elevation visible from the public way: dated July 11, 2024 Material List: dated July 11, 2024 Work Scope Narrative: dated July 11, 2024 Legal Advertisement Authorization Form: dated July 11, 2024 The homeowner explained the proposed reroofing plans for the structure at 1364 Massachusetts Avenue. They stated the new roof will be in a light color. The Commission approved this application as presented with one condition that the color of new roof should match the color of existing roof. The color of new shingle will be charcoal. No Public Comments. Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to 1364 Massachusetts Avenue. Motion carried, All in favor. Historic Districts Commission 1 / 3 Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the formal hearing for 15 Meriam Street, exterior alterations (Chimney Demolition and Balcony Railing and Post Replacement) in the Battle Green Historic District Documents Full plan set of proposed alteration: dated July 10, 2024 Photographs of entire place of each building elevation visible from the public way: dated July 10, 2024 Material List: dated July 10, 2024 Work Scope Narrative: dated July 10, 2024 Legal Advertisement Authorization Form: dated July 10, 2024 HDC Memo: dated July 29, 2024 15_Meriam_St_Lexington_Layout_HDC: dated July 29, 2024 Presentation-HDC-August12024: dated August1, 2024 The applicant/homeowner explained the proposed exterior Chimney Demolition and Balcony Railing and Post Replacement plans for the structure at 15 Meriam Street. The Commission encouraged the owner to retain and preserve the exterior appearance of those two chimneys. Dan Hisel will serve as liaison for this application. Dan Hisel was granted authority to approve the faux brick chimneys. The Commission approved the replacement of chimneys in kind, and the details of the chimney to be delegated to Dan Hisel’s review. This application will continue to September HDC meeting for the review of Balcony Railing and Post Replacement. No Public Comments. Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy made a motion to conditionally approve the architectural in-kind replacement of chimneys, which will be pending administrative approval by Dan Hisel. Dan Hisel Seconded. Roll Call Vote: Richard Neumeier - Yes, Paul O’Shaughnessy – Yes, Dan Hisel – Yes, Edward Adelman – Yes, Robin Lovett -Yes, Brien Cooper – Yes, Lee Noel Chase - Yes. Motion carried, All in favor. CONTINUED HEARING Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the continued hearing for 611 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior alterations (Exterior colors – New Construction) in the East Village Historic District Documents 611 Mass Ave exterior colors dated 7-26-2024 & 8-1-2024: dated July 29, 2024 The architect explained the proposed exterior color plans for the new construction at 611 Massachusetts Avenue. The Commission approved the GAF Slateline Shingles colors “Weathered Slate”. Lee Noel Chase will serve as liaison for this application to review alternate colors for sash and front door. No Public Comments. Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to 611 Massachusetts Avenue on the condition of Lee Noel Chase’s administrative review with regards to sash and front door. Motion carried, All in favor. Historic Districts Commission 2 / 3 ACTION ITEMS thth Consideration and vote on Meeting Minutes of the meeting held on June 6, 2024 & July 11, 2024: th The Commission made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting held on June 6, 2024 & th July 11, 2024 as written. Motion carried with Dan Hisel, Richard Neumeier, and Brien Cooper abstention. All in favor. The Commission made a motion to adjourn at 7:37pm. Motion carried. All in favor.
