• Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 7:19 PM. The lateness was due to the hybrid
nature of the meeting.
Steve made a motion to approve July secretary's report. Seconded: Ashley
• Treasurer's report Both Marie and Steve reported using June's numbers. Town has us funded
for$6000; State has us funded for$9386. Local has us funded for$7076. We also have $2645
from the MCC Festival grant that is budgeted for Porchfest 2024. $145 of this amount is leftover
from last year's budget.
Steve remarked that after Labor Day we should identify those 2024 grantees who have not
submitted their bills. We will then send reminders.
The grant cycle for 2025 opens Sept 1 and ends Oct 16. We need to update the press release
and reach out to potential grantees. Ashley pointed out that we should emphasize that we are
looking for unique projects that bring excitement to the town. Claudia and Marie will cochair
the grants committee.
The Utility box Project is complete. Claudia questioned the similarity between one of our boxes
and one in Arlington. Steve will follow up with Laurie Bogdon. We discussed holding a small
celebration for the box that honors two Revolutionary War fighters. Shalini will head up that
celebration. Ashley pointed out that such a celebration would work nicely with the upcoming
Parker's Prelude on Sept 21.
Our second Porchfest now has 62 bands and 44 porches according to Eric. He has been trying
to eliminate porches that are far out of town. He is looking for someone to coordinate the
placement of the signs advertising the event. He will ask David to coordinate. Steve spoke
about the importance of a map and an information booth.
Lex250 is hosting calendar countdown photo ops. We selected two dates (9/7 & 9/14) in
September and Ashley sent them to the organizer Mona Ry
MCC has a new grant program to support programming and interpretation that tell the stories
of the American Revolution in Massachusetts and will increase tourism and travel to and within
Massachusetts. We agreed to speak to others about this opportunity.
