Lexington Design Advisory Committee
Attendees John Frey, Chairman; Walter Pierce; Jack Eddison,
Selectman; Tom Coffman; Bob Bradley
Absent Betsy Whitman; Don Olson; Norma Bogen
1 Committee welcomed our new member , Tom Coffman
2 Lexington Monument discussion and review of
Betsy Whitman' s memo
a) design guidelines discussed regarding gifts and
review of procedures to accept these gifts
b) committee will meet Saturday, 11/14/87 at
Visitor Center to review the monument further
and give an opinion to the Selectmen for
consideration Jack suggested a spokesman from
the DAC present the committee' s feelings &
recommendations at Monday Selectmen' s meeting
A sketch describing alternative locations should
be presented
3 Bikeway meeting review - John Frey to attend
4 John Frey reported that John Crowe did attend the
Playground review and it was felt that Bob Leather' s
approach was appropriate The following elements were
discussed
a) cautioned citizens wanting mounding
b) 10 ' x 12 ' sand box too small
c) peastone surface under equipment is OR (Sudbury)
d) bouncer too close to the toddler area
e) generally positive toward the design & its details
5 Center MDP - Bob Ossman is working on it Scope of
additional requirements needs to be defined with Bob
6 Consultant' s review - scope of services & funds needed
Need consultant' s services contracts and a budget to
place an article on the warrant for the spring town
meeting Walter suggested unanimity with MDC and
others in town to go forth with guidelines There are
two different issues - guidelines and obligations
Bob Bradley will get consultant' s services agreement
7 Committee draft of activities for town report - reviewed
and accepted with two deletions
8 Discussion of 2 new committee members for DAC Jack
will contact Dan Roos and Elaine Adler to secure
resumes and present to Board of Selectmen
9 Trees in the Green, Battle Green and other locations in
the town should be considered in an overall plan, for
the future discussions and guidelines
