correction "Norma Bogen reported on a conversation with Margery
Battin "
No additional prospective members of the DAG have come forward as a
result of John's and Betsy's letter in the Minuteman However, it was
agreed that the publicity was useful
John reported on his attendance at the Community Playground meeting on
September 16 He talked to Bob Leathers, who is designing the
playground along with the parents and children, about the concept of the
design and the scale of the various elements It was suggested that
someone from the DAC attend the next meeting of the Committee which
focuses on design
John also reported on his attendance at the Selectmen's Breakfast on
October 2, to which the Chairmen of Town Committees were invited This
provided an opportunity for them to talk with each other and to learn
what each Committee is doing
John also reported on his meeting with John Davies, Chairman of the HDC,
and Marge Battin, Chairman of the LCC The HDC likes to look at each
issue on its own merits If, however, design guidelines for the Center
were developed, the HDC would be willing to review them and to work with
the LCC and the DAC The HDC would welcome attendance by LCC members at
its regular meetings
Norma will make some calls to Concord to determine whether the the town
has design guidelines for the Center, and if not, try to find out what
has been reponsible for its attractiveness
John will prepare a draft summary of DAC activities to date for
inclusion in the Town Annual Report DAC members will also have a group
photo taken for the Report A tentative date of October 24 was set
John's summary will also be sent to the members of the DAG to let
them know about DAC activities They will be invited to attend
meetings if they would like to do so, and will be asked about their
willingness to serve on various subcommittees (such as signs, lighting,
Emery Park, base map, etc ) A list of all DAG members will be included
in the mailing
Don Olson, John Frey, and Bob Ossman will get together to discuss the
progress of the base map
There was a general discussion about signs and the possibility of
setting up a subcommittee to do some work on this Ways of getting
leads on people with expertise on signage and graphics were explored
Betsy will contact the Council on the Arts for leads, and Don will do
some searching as well
A replacement is needed for Dick Morehouse who has resigned from the
DAC Three names were suggested, and Jack Eddison will contact them
in the order named to see if they are interested Lou Bakanowski (if
he is still a Lexington resident), Tom Coffman, and Norman Fletcher
If approved by the Selectmen, the DAC will also be expanded to nine
members in order to assure sufficient attendance at meetings
Jack pointed out that the Selectmen need a plan of attack so that they
can respond to it Any request for funds should be accompanied by
written material that describes the purpose of the funds and the
amount required
The next meeting of the DAC will be on November 10 at 8 00 p m.
Respectfully submitted,
