Additional signage and improvements to accessible play spaces should be complete this summer. • The lining of pickleball at Adams is costly and will take courts offline. Do we invest now or wait until the end of the pilot? • LPC will be permitted the Adams Courts on Wednesday and Friday nights from 5:00-8:OOpm during the summer season (July lst-August 31st) to address the request for weeknight court time. • Continue to define metrics/evaluative criteria to determine if pilot program is successful (parking, attendance, challenges, etc.). Next Steps - Long Term • LPC has mentioned the possibility of potentially moving the program from Adams to Clarke in the future. • Creation of dedicated pickleball courts - currently scheduled for FY27. A location has not been identified and this request may need to be paused to FY28 until a location is identified/purchased, etc. From: Nelson Ortiz cybernelsonjose@gmail.com Subject: Re:2024 LHS Girls Soccer Boosters Corporate Sponsorship Proposal-Presentation Date: May 15,2024 at 09:17 To: Peter Coleman Pcoleman@lexingtonma.gov Cc: Erik Larson Eandm5@juno.com, Melissa Battite mbattite@lexingtonma.gov, Recreation Committee recreationcmte@lexingtonma.gov USE CAUTION:This emaii came from outside the Town of Lexington. In select- ing those options, B1 was the oniy add-on/reno option, while all the other plans favored building a new school. (There was a re- quest for a D2 but that hasn't been designed yet). I would like to raise some concerns regarding the options chosen by SBC that unfavorably affect the school and town: • Environmentai and sustainability issues o A new construction will affect our wetlands, create more pollu- tion and carbon emission. It will damage the center fields that have been renovated in the last few years. o B1 does not save the useful portions of the new school that would lead to cost savings. o Some committee members have previously rejected B1 be- cause the phasing is unacceptable. o B1 does not align with the spirit of the MSBA requirements to provide a plan that gives taxpayers a cost-effective alternative to a new school. o Our town is all about sustainability, yet the option of preserving .....F.. ..f F4... ....6,....1 i.... ......tL...i.. ..li....1 .,...J 4,:..1...-., ...,i,.. ....... ',/QILJ VI UIC JI,IIVVi IVI GtCJlllCllli GUILUIdI QIIU IIIJWIII; VQIUC VVQJ not considered. • Budget o Having a new, more sustainable option will allow for improving the school and providing a lower cost option. o If the only option offered is a new school with a hefty price tag, the town risks jeopardizing the entire building project when the option goes to a vote in NovemberlDecember 2025. Additional add/reno plans should be submitted to SMMA that pro- vide the taxpayers with the opportunity to save on construction costs and save on rebuilding the playing fields, while at the same time provide acceptable phasing. Despite requests from local ar- chitects and builders to meet with SMMA and provide an alterna- tive, that hasn't happened. It is important to remember that it is not the building that makes Lexington the best education system around as is evidenced by years of excellence.
