Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy called the June 6, 2024 Historic Districts Commission meeting to order
at 6:06pm.
CONTINUED HEARING
Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the formal hearing for 13 Depot Square, 1661 Massachusetts
Avenue, 1761 Massachusetts Avenue, 1875 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior alterations (Riding
Through History) in the Battle Green Historic District

The applicant explained the updated proposed riding through history plans (a mock-up of placement of a
horse on the patio) at 1875 Massachusetts Avenue.
The Commission felt this application was appropriate. Robert Adams has been served as the liaison for
this application.
No Public Comments.
Paul O’Shaughnessy made motion to amend the April resolution of the Commission to
accommodate placement of this horse in front of the Visitor Center as depicted in the graphic that
we have been provided on the patio, to the left of the door as being viewed the building. Lee Noel
Chase seconded. Roll Call Vote: Dan Hisel – Yes, Paul O’Shaughnessy – Yes, Robert Adams – Yes,
Brien Cooper – Yes, Lee Noel Chase – Yes. Motion carried. All in favor.

The applicant explained the proposed riding through history plans in front of Munroe Tavern at 1403
Massachusetts Avenue.
The Commission felt this application was appropriate.

Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to
1403 Massachusetts Avenue. Motion carried, All in favor.

The architect explained the proposed windows replacement and exterior house color plans for the structure
at 2 Percy Road.
The Commission felt this application was appropriate as presented with the choice of blue for the window
details, and the one proviso that there will be an agreement between Mr. Colin and Lee Noel Chase that
it’s acceptable and then a Certificate of Appropriateness will be issued.
Lee Noel Chase will serve as the liaison for this application.
No public comments.
Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to
2 Percy Road (formerly 4 Percy Road) as presented with the choice of blue for the window details,

The architect explained the updated proposed new construction plans for 4 Percy Road.
The Commission agreed to continue this application to July HDC meeting. Bob Adams and Dan Hisel
will continue to serve as the consultant and liaison for this application.
