Meeting Minutes

1. Transit Guide,2002. The annual transit guide will be mailed the week of 12/17/01.
2. LEXPRESS Route Evaluation. A packet of route suggestions from the drivers,
which also included several route requests by citizens,was distributed for review
Route evaluation will be on the January agenda.To assess route delays,the drivers
will be asked to mark end route time on daily forms.
3. Marketing LEXPRESS. A rider survey is being developed. The Lexington
Minuteman will be contacted with a photo and announcement regarding the
LEXPRESS site supervisor as M&L Transit Systems Outstanding Employee. The
Lexington High School Marketing teacher will be contacted to discuss student
development of a LEXPRESS marketing campaign aimed at high school and middle
school students.A presentation on transportation options for seniors is in the early
planning stages.
4. Hartwell Avenue TMA. A brochure to present to Hartwell Avenue property
managers regarding transportation options is being developed in conjunction with the
128 Business Council. The MBTA will be contacted to clarify Route 70 since tighter
security has kept the bus out of Hanscom after September 11.The MBTA will also
be asked if the revised route on Hartwell could be extended to service the entire
street.
5. Transportation Meeting Updates. Don Graham and Gail Wagner attended the annual
South Lexington Transportation Task Force meeting. Speakers were Caroline
Connor of the 128 Business Council,presenting an update on the Alewife shuttle,
and Joe Marino of the town Economic Development office.Gail Wagner attended a
workshop on senior transportation issues sponsored by the Gerontology Institute of
the University of Massachusetts,Boston.It was requested that TAC gain a better
understanding of MAGIC, speaking with a representative and placement on the
mailing list.A request was made that all TAC members be alerted to upcoming
transportation events.
6. Patriots Day Parade. A LEXPRESS bus will be entered in the parade on April 15,
2002 and a reduced rate will be explored with M&L Transit Systems.It was
suggested that purchase of a new banner be researched.
7 Lexington Comprehensive Plan. Transportation review is part of the process and
TAC should remain involved. A list of transportation items was previously
distributed.
8. Minutes of November 7 2001 meeting were approved.
