1 Transit Guide,2002. Corporate sponsorship efforts failed. To date,three$500 ads
are confirmed(Yangtze River,DeWolfe and Remax) Potential ad sources
identified from the 1998-99 guide and new Center businesses. Information will be
synthesized to accommodate ads. No route changes. The present guide is strongly
endorsed and modifications should maintain current guide's integrity
2. Transportation Demand Management.Letters to the two sites on file were sent and
$4,000 received from 16 Hayden.An additional$4,000 from 55 Hayden is
anticipated.Nordic Properties, 10 Maguire Road, is the source of the Hartwell TMA.
3 Depot Square Construction. Unforeseen issues regarding the impact of Depot
Square renovations on the Meriam Street parking lot and LEXPRESS have created
demands on the Transportation Services Office. These issues are a priority The
historical evolvement of Depot Square renovations was reviewed.
4 LEXPRESS Ridership. Accuracy of ridership needs clarification since counts are
traditionally less than fares.Method of recording additional riders will be checked.
As noted at a recent META meeting, ridership counts are problematic for small in-
town transit systems. The CTPS has conducted ridership counts and results will be
pursued. Volunteers have conducted ridership counts on LEXPRESS in the past.
5 ADA. To comply with federal guidelines,LEXPRESS drivers must allow open
access to the wheelchair lift.Non-wheelchair riders requesting the lift must be
instructed to hold the side railings during lift operation. The driver does not stand on
the lift with the rider. In July the wheelchair lift was used 5 times with no problems.
6. Database. Bill Levison explained his detailed analysis of routes and ridership based
on May 2001, LEXPRESS ridership. Analysis helps to view the system in a fuller
perspective and is very useful. Additional analysis would be welcomed.
7 Lexington Minuteman Monthly Articles. The initiation of articles was
commended. The LEXPRESS back to school poem distributed by Sally
Castelman will be submitted for publication in September. LEXPRESS access to
schools will be emphasized.
8. Web site: Some updates made. Revamping needed to include all transit services.
9 Selectmen liaisons. Don Graham will verify theTAC and MBT liaisons.
