Neighborhood routes are the LEXPRESS' mainstay,but avenues to extend services and thus, increase ridership,demands ongoing attention. Business commuters were cited as an important base of stable ridership. Given financial constraints,maximization of resources though cooperative efforts with bordering towns and 128 Council was noted. 2. Recruitment of TAC Members. Ruth Hegwein, a senior LEXPRESS pass holder, will be invited to the next meeting. Efforts to recruit a student representative are ongoing.The recruitment of a parent of younger children was also suggested. 3. Lexington Tourist Shuttle. Tourism Committee requested input from the Transportation Advisory Committee regarding bus service for a year round Tourist Shuttle.A meeting will be held on October 11, 2001. Although funds arc not available through the Transportation Services budget,TAC supports this effort. Management of a shuttle through the terms of the existing M&L Transit Systems contract is sanctioned. 4. M& L Transit Contract Extension. A fourth and fifth year extension,as stated in the contract,was sanctioned. Review of maintenance records by the DPW Road Machinery Supervisor was requested. 5. M&L Transit Contract Terms. In regard to extra buses, Page 10 of the contract states `Payment shall be made based only on hours of actual service. One-half hour has been charged throughout the contract for the extra Route 6,3pm run. In September,an extra Route 6 bus,6:45am run,was requested at which time these terms were questioned. The contractor requested one-hour payment for all extra runs and compensation at this rate back to July 1999 when the contract took effect. TAC sanctioned a new one-hour rate for the 6:45am extra bus. The ongoing rate of one-half hour will remain in effect for the extra PM bus. 6. Transit Guide 2002. A draft will soon be ready TAC members will be contacted to review it at Town Hall prior to printing. 7 Selectmen Liaisons. Leo McSweeney is the liaison to TAC and Jeanne Krieger is the MBTA liaison. 8. Minutes of September 5,2001,meeting were approved. 9 Next Meeting. Wednesday November 7,2001.
