1. The marketing plan originally prepared in 1998 was revisited.Nancy Kolb asked for
TAC member assistance in carrying out elements of the plan.Bill Mix volunteered to
dress as a Minuteman to speak to elementary school students.Don Graham volunteered
to meet with the Superintendent to discuss disseminating LEXPRESS information in the
schools to teachers and staff and to students. Seniors are the other audience targeted in
the marketing plan.Elaine Dratch volunteered to prepare an article for the COA
newsletter.Nancy Kolb to follow up on an article profiling the drivers with the
contractor Sara Arnold volunteered to review the written article.Rebecca Rogers
volunteered to ask Musket staff if they would like to include an article on LEXPRESS.
2. Revenue statistics for FY00 were presented.Revenue is down about 12%in the first four
months of the year(compared to FY 1999).Pass sale revenue is down 14%,farebox sales
down 11%and ticket sales have increased by 17%.Don Graham suggested that the trend
in pass sales maybe due to the tardiness of the Transit Guide, and absence of pass
applications in people's mailboxes when determining what to do for the coming school
year. This possibility underscores the importance of marketing.
3. Draft budget request figures for FY01 were presented. An approximate 10% increase is
being requested for LEXPRESS expenses due to the increase in contract cost, the slight
decline in revenue, and the current absence of funding from Lahey Clinic. The budget
requested for Chair Car service declined, due to the reallocation of$11,000 of funding to
COA/Day Care for transportation services previously paid from the Transportation
Services Office budget.
4. Meeting minutes were approved,as amended.
