Nancy Kolb opened the meeting with a status report.The CNG Bus RFP has been sent to potential vendors and a pre-proposal conference would be held on April 2, 1998.The Lexington-Concord Visitor's Council was continuing to move forward with planning for the Lexington-Concord Trolley Lou Sideris of the Minute Man National Historic Park met with the police chief of Concord to have the proposed route approved.Nancy and Lou are to meet to do time runs and create timetables for the trolley service.New Lexpress ridership figures showing the number of passengers per vehicle hour were presented. 2. The issue of marketing was raised with a discussion regarding committee membership. Don Graham suggested that the committee may need to be reconstituted to include more members with closer ties to the service such as seniors and parents of school aged (especially junior and high school aged)children. Don believes that the chair of the committee should be closely affiliated with the schools and offered to step down if an appropriate volunteer was found.Committee members noted previous inquiries to membership that should be pursued. 3. Specific marketing items were also raised.Ben Turk has contacted the School Department regarding bus safety sessions. Summer flyer for Hayden and Minuteman Tech are already out(too late for Lexpress advertising). Nancy Kolb should contact parade marshal about bus location in parade.Barbara Lucas volunteered to make bus skirts for the parade. 4. Discussion of changes to MBTA Saturday service commenced. Ed Ganshirt provided press release from the web.Beginning June 21,Route 76 and Route 62 service will be combined on Saturdays.The new route will travel Mass Ave to Wood Street,up Hartwell Avenue and west on Route 4/225 into Bedford.A new express route was being added to Burlington. Suggestion was made for this route to stop on Hartwell Avenue. MBTA assessments to the Town were discussed, as was the possibility of seeking additional funding from the MBTA for Lexpress service. 5.
