1. Meeting minutes for the May 14, 1998 meeting were approved.
2. An update was given on CNG bus procurement.Formal funding requests have been made
to the Boston MPO Local Subcommittee and MHD's Bureau of Transportation Planning
and Development.Local Senators and Representatives have been contacted for their
assistance. The contract for buses will not be awarded until a commitment is received on
the funding and cost of providing service is known.
3. LEXPRESS held a Discovery Day booth with the assistance of several TAC members
including Don Graham,Sara Arnold and Rebecca Rogers. Several information requests
were responded to at the booth.
4 Pass renewals have been sent to all existing LEXPRESS passholders so that they may
renew their passes by mail.Approximately 200 renewal forms were sent.
5. Two Requests For Proposals(RFPs)are currently available in draft form for member
comment.The first is for interim LEXPRESS service beginning September 1, 1998 and
lasting until new CNG buses are received.The second RFP is for LEXPRESS drivers
once CNG buses are available.Lorraine Pacocha and Ben Turk volunteered to be on the
Selection Committee for the contracts.Comments on RFPs are due on Tuesday June 16.
RFPs will be sent to prospective vendors on June 18, 1998
6. Depot Square construction is expected to be advertised by the Massachusetts Highway
Department on July 4, 1998 with construction occurring this fall.While grass,pavers,
and other ground treatments will be completed before winter,trees and shrubs are
expected to be planted in Spring 1999
7 Erna Greene has begun work on the 1998-99 Lexington Transit Guide.Transportation
Services content must be identified by July 24.Advertisement of the logo contest was
suggested.Discussion included the rules under which a contest should be held.TAC
members requested a draft of the rules with which to respond. Two meetings were
scheduled in July to finalize the Transit Guide contents.
