HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-12-10-TAC-min.pdf TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE Wednesday, December 10, 1997 Meeting 7 30 PM, Room 105 MEETING MINUTES Attendees Betty Eddison Ed Ganshirt Don Graham Barbara Lucas Robert Sawyer Ben Turk 1 Approve Minutes of November 20, 1997 Meeting No action taken 2 Status of Transportation Coordinator Replacement DGraham reported that one applicant had been interviewed by the screening committee and more will be interviewed on December 19th BLucas circulated a note to TAC thanking the members for the November 12, 1997 farewell dinner held in her honor 3 Letter to MBTA Re Route 76 Saturday Service EGanshirt displayed a letter he had received from Alan Castaline, Chief Planning Officer in the MBTA Operations Planning Unit, acknowledging Ed's comments on Route 76 and on other MBTA routes serving the Burlington area A copy of Ed's letter is attached The draft TAC letter to the MBTA was reviewed It was agreed to address it to Robert H Prince, MBTA General Manager, with copies to Hasty Evans, META Director of Planning, and to Alan Castaline as well as Senators Havern and Fargo and Representative Kaufman 4 Draft of Town Report The draft of the town report was reviewed The next steps are to review it with Pauline Burke, incorporate some missing budget and ridership numbers, and submit it by the December 24th deadline 5 Caravan for Commuters December 4, 1997 Seminar DGraham reported on the seminar A copy of a questionnaire prepared for discussion purposes by Donna Smallwood, Caravan's Manager of Planning and Research is attached 6 South Lexington Transportation Committee Breakfast Meeting DGraham reported that he will be attending the breakfast of Hayden Avenue/Spring Street developers to be held at the Sheraton Lexington on December 18, 1997 at the invitation of Thomas Marcucelli of Boston Properties 7 Other Business BLucas brought the TAC up to date on a number of items 1 Bikeway Enhancement Grant Application Very shortly it will be possible to file an application with MAPC A good candidate for such a grant may be a bikeway along Hartwell Avenue 2 Hartwell Avenue TMA Grant Second year funding has been applied for First year funding, not yet spent, must be spent by September 1998 or be lost 3 CNG Bus Specifications These are now being reviewed by the DPW BLucas strongly recommends that they be reviewed by TAC as well DGraham agreed to discuss the matter with George Woodbury 4 Lexington-Concord Trolley BLucas believes a meeting was held recently by Lou Sideris of the MMNHP and Concord officials DGraham agreed to contact Lou Sideris 5 Lexington Representation on the JRTC BLucas reported that Lexington was not represented at the December meeting of the Joint Regional Transportation Committee Since the job description for the Transportation Coordinator assigns this task to the Transportation Coordinator, DGraham agreed to attend the January JRTC meeting on January 14, 1998 as a substitute unless a new Coordinator is on the job by then 8 Next Meeting The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 1997
