3 Transportation Coordinator
a November 12, 1997 Dinner for Barbara Lucas
Success of dinner for Barbara Lucas held on November 12,
1997 at Vinnie Testa's was noted A total of 14 attended
including all three Transportation Coordinators, all eight
active TAC members, three former TAC members, and Janet
Lewitzky
b Status of Replacement Selection
It was reported that the first interview of an applicant
will be held next week and the closing date for applications
is now set at November 30, 1997
4 Caravan for Commuters Seminar Series
a November 6, 1997 Seminar
DGraham reported on the meeting held at the Transportation
Building from 9 am to noon and attended by approximately 30
people, primarily those representing TMAs such as the 128
Business Council, the Longwood Medical Center Area, BU,
Charles River and others The program consisted of
presentations from EOTC, Mass Highway, MBTA, MassPort and
MassPike describing programs and services that may be of use
and benefit to TMAs

Three addition seminars will be held at the same location
December 4, 1997, February 4, 1997, and April 7, 1997 TAC
members are welcome to attend by registering with Jackie
Stiasny at 617-973-7189
5 55 Hayden Avenue Development Plan
a Planning Board November 2, 1997 Public Hearing
b November 19, 1997 Special Town Meeting
DGraham reported on his presentations at these two meetings
in support of Spaulding and Slye's proposed Transportation
Demand Management Plan incorporated in their Preliminary
Site Development and Use Plan Their request for a zoning
change was approved by Town Meeting by a vote of 139-4
6 MBTA Route 76 Saturday Service
Copies of Leo McSweeney's letter of November 5, 1997 to the
MBTA Advisory Board opposing the MBTA's proposed elimination
of Saturday service on Route 76 (prepared by SArnold and
Phyllis Smith) and distributed to the TAC members was
discussed At BEddison's suggestion, DGraham agreed to
prepare a letter from TAC to the MBTA (rather than the MBTA
Advisory Board) attaching and supporting the McSweeney
letter to the Advisory Board and proposing some constructive
next steps to strengthen the mutual support of MBTA and Town
of Lexington transportation services rather than just
witnessing a reduction of services A draft of the letter
would be sent to the TAC members for comment BEddison
urged that a copy of the letter to the MBTA should be sent
to Senator Havern
The November 12, 1997 reply letter from the MBTA Advisory
board to Leo McSweeney was noted
A copy of a letter from Dale M Pease to the MBTA Operations
Planning Unit opposing the Route 76 reduction in service was
discussed DGraham agreed to respond to Dale Pease and to
send a copy of his letter to Senator Havern
7 Draft of Town Report
The draft distributed to the TAC members was discussed
briefly BEddison urged that greater emphasis be placed on
the town transportation policy role of TAC, LPacheco
requested that the TAC relationship with the MBTA be
described and BTurk felt that the TAC involvement in town
tranportation demand management activities be given more
emphasis DGraham agreed to prepare a new draft for TAC
review and comment
8 Visit td New Transportation Services Quarters
Pauline Burke escorted the meeting attendees on a tour of
the revisions under way in the DPW office on the second
floor to accommodate the Transportation Coordinator, Janet
Lewitzky and visitors on Lexpress business
