1 Approve minutes 11/15/95, 12/13/95 Minutes were approved as written ✓
2 Transportation/DPW Reorganization Update S. Arnold, B. Lucas Sara Arnold will write a letter to the Town ✓
Manager expressing the TAC concerns about the reorganization. George Woodbury will be asked to meet
TAC.
2 Looking ahead/Planning for the Future/Where do we go from here?
a. Role Definition for the Transportation Coordinator Discussion of the information prepared by Don Graham in
connection with the inclusionary transportation policy Not taken up by the committee -
b The Town Manager has asked me(BGL)for a"vision' for Lexington transportation prior to town meeting. I would
like to work with the TAC in developing this vision and hope we can outline a timeline and process to accomplish this.
The deadline for providing a vision statement to the Town Manager is mid March. Not taken up by the committee
3 COA/Chair Car Service for coming year-Possibility of Joint RFP Share A Ride has indicated that they will no longer
provide transportation to the Council on Aging for the Social Day Care Program. Linda Vine has asked the TC office
for help in locating a supplier for this service by January 20. To date,we have not been able to locate a vendor
Although finding transportation for the Day Care clients is an immediate concern, in the longer term, Share A Ride's
decision also raises an opportunity to provide more comprehensive transportation services for the frail elderly
The Town's contract with Share A Ride for the Lexington Chair Car Service ends on June 30, 1996. It is likely that
Share A Ride will decide not to bid. Neither the Day Care transportation nor the Chair Car Service is considered large
enough, considered separately,to attract an outside vendor Together, however these services probably could be
provided efficiently because their timing works well for one provider.
new Transportation Plan proposed by Youville Place Youville Place(Grey Nuns)has proposed the enclosed"transportation ✓
item plan for their proposed assisted living center. I have also enclosed a copy of the Inclusionary Transportation Plan
, adopted by the Planning Board for reference while you read. Don Graham and Barbara Lucas met with Youville
representatives on February 7th. See copy of letter from Youville Placein response to this meeting is
enclosed.
4 Phone call from Rita Botti Likes to go to Middlesex and Burlington Malls in one day Feels charging full fares(75 c)
to Middlesex Mall and full fare(75 cents)to Burlington Mall and full fare(75 cents)to return to town is too much Wants
there to be either a transfer charge(25 cents)between Middlesex and Burlington or no charge for seniors.
*Doesn't buy a pass anymore since the fares went up for passes. TAC discussed this and recommended that B. ✓
the Trans. Coord. decide what the charge between the two malls will be. Beginning March 1,a special
between the Middlesex and Burlington Malls will be available for purchase on the Route 5 bus for$0.25.
