Discussion of Rpdget Presentation TAC read and made comments on the draft memo prepared by Barbara Lucas for presentation to the Board of Selectman on January 4. Betty Eddison stated that the focus of the presentation should be transportation services rather than just Lexpress. The draft memo provided information for the selectmen on the functions of the Transportation Service Office as well as information on ridership and budget. It was agreed that the findings of the Ad Hoc Transportation Committee would be an important subject of the memo. TAC also read and made comments on the draft memo prepared by Sara Arnold for the January 4 meeting. It was agreed that this was not the time to go over the entire history of the mini bus and chair car services, but to be brief and positive to ensure the selectmen's' awareness of what has been achieved. Preliminary Rider Survey- Fred urveyFred Rosenberg advised TAC of the results of the preliminary rider survey he conducted on December 20. Although the scope of this survey was very limited, TAC was interested in the results indicating the importance of dependability to riders. It was agreed that a follow- } up survey might be done in the spring. Schedules of Lexpress Connections with other Public Transportation Routes. Ed Ganshirt provided TAC with copies of schedules that he produced indicating the connections that can be made by riders using Lexpress in conjunction with the LRTA Bus, the MBTA bus route#350, and the Burlington B-Line. It was agreed that more information for riders on how they might reach more destinations by transferring between systems would be helpful and it was suggested that the META might be interested in participating in producing a more comprehensive map. It was noted that Lexington riders would be especially interested in the possibilities of connections between Lexpress and the Burlington B-Line Bus. Recent Guidelines for Transportation Terminals and Para Transit Meeting Barbara Lucas advised TAC of recent guidelines for transportation terminals which include a covered space and also pavement areas with tactile difference between safe and unsafe space. TAC discussed the scheduling of a public meeting regarding the para transit system and agreed that the meeting should be held in the daytime. It was decided that the meeting would be held in the Selectimens' Meeting room on January 25 or 26 from noon to 1.30 PM. Pickin!-un Passengers at Captain Parker Arms. Liz Andrews advised TAC that passengers who live at Captain Parker Arms are very unhappy about waiting on the corner of Waltham Street and Worthen Road when they want to catch the Route 2 Lexpress. She stated that the drivers no longer go into Captain Parker Arms to pick up passengers as they did in the past, and only go into Captain Parker Arms to let passengers carrying heavy packages out when the passenger makes this request. This change started when Lexington Ridge was added to the Route 2, and was done to save on this lengthy route. With the recent colder weather, the Captain Parker Arms passengers have become increasingly displeased with what they see as lesser service. Barbara Lucas stated that she would be sure that the Route 2 drivers would go into Captain Parker Arms to pick up and drop off passengers on the off-peak runs as they did in the past.
