The memo explains details of the articles two projects: purchase of up to 7 alternate fuel vehicles and establishing a seasonal trolley service between Lexington and Concord. TAC anticipated questions that Town Meeting might have regarding Article 14 including concern as to the ability of DPW workers to maintain the vehicles. Barbara Lucas stated that Minute Man Tech would train the workers to do the maintenance. It was stated that the DPW was very interested in taking on the responsibility of this work. Discussion of Committee presentation at Town Meeting- It was agreed that we should not go into depth describing Article 14 during the discussion of Article 4. Fred Rosenberg shared his ideas regarding overhead transparencies and a draft of transparencies to be used for the presentation. Betty Eddison suggested that Clarke 8th graders who worked on "The Revolutionary Ride" hand it out during the presentation of Article 14. TAC reviewed and edited the material prepared by Sara Arnold for distribution to Town Meeting members. TAC also reviewed and edited a notice prepared by Sara Arnold to be mailed to passholders and parents of passholders. The notice advised them of the recommendation of the Board of Selectmen to make funding of Lexpress contingent on passage of an override. Liz Andrews agreed to have her phone number printed on the notice. Sara Arnold stated that the mailing costs of this notice would be paid by an anonymous donor and all other costs would also be paid by private donations. Patriots Day Parade- TAC discussed a possible slogan for a sign on the Lexpress bus in the parade. The theme of the parade is "A Grateful Nation Remembers." Betty Eddison suggested that our sign say something like, "We Remember Gas Rationing--Public Transportation is an Alternative." TAC agreed that this was a good idea and it was accepted.
