Sonduck, N Santosuosso , S Castleman, F Rosenberg , P Burke 1 Budget Issues/Town Meeting S Arnold reviewed budget meeting chronology Rick has been asked to present a new budget without a trash fee This would mean a $1 million dollar reduction on the town side and a $1 million dollar reduction on the school side L'EXPRESS should probably plan to have a presence at the Feb 24th Selectmen ' s meeting A discussion ensued regarding the difficulties involved in the budget process this year S Arnold commented that it appears that the best strategy at this point will be simply to keep in touch with the players and where they stand L'EXPRESS will probably increase fares because in the FY93 budget we committed to raising another 5% in revenue Committee members should try to attend the Feb 24th meeting , as well as the League of Women Voters meeting tomorrow evening Statement paper needs to be put together to respond to "what ifs" What if there were no L'EXPRESS for the elderly? What if there were no L'EXPRESS for students? What if there is only an elderly service, who would be missed? Discussion of sheets P Burke distributed to analyze service options and correlating costs Notes need to be added to hand-outs which explain the MBTA grant and parking meter money Also add taxi voucher system Change title to Senior Service Options 2 American Disabilities Act (ADA) Discussion of issues which need to be addressed to meet our commitment to this legislation They include accessibility at Depot Square, driver education, appropriate vehicle selection There was consensus that Exhibit E (draft ) circulated by P Burke was a good document and a plan for proceeding 2--/ 2.--9 2_ The committee agreed to forward the draft letter to Dick Spiers in beginning a dialogue concerning altering Depot Square 3 Use of Iveco S Arnold and P Burke met with Rick White to attempt to resolve this issue A draft amendment was circulated Comments related to this document need to be to P Burke by tomorrow by 3 OOpm 4 Waltham E Gibbs would still like to attempt to begin a service between the Lexington and Waltham The T has added $25 , 000 to our contract to facilitate this process He will give a presentation on this concept at the next meeting 5 Advertising E Gibbs wants to pay for an ad in the Minuteman, but he wants the committee to design and write the copy He suggested putting a coupon in the ad which allows free rides on Saturdays He will pay for redeeming the coupon N Santosuosso suggested adding a drawing to the process which would award a three month pass Add statement which identifies A-Connoisseur as the funder Any Saturday before March 31st L'EXPRESS will pick up the cost of the three- month pass P Burke will work details out to place ad the last week in February 6 Miscellaneous A card will be designed to place in the busses when passengers have comments or questions regarding L'EXPRESS and the budget P Burke will ask for names and addresses and will include phone number for people to contact us
