Minutes
{ June 11 1991
Present W Mix, S Castleman, S Arnold, L Andrews, P Burke, E Dratch
1 Accessibility Requirements Equip vehicles with lifts or increase
paratransit? It was agreed to put off any action until Norman Cohen gives us a
legal ruling or 'T' actually tells us we do not comply or are not accessible
Pointed out LEXPRESS supports chair car and Lexington taxes support 'The Ride
If we increased access to chair car service on a per trip, on call basis,
Elaine Dratch estimated $8-$10 per trip and each trip could take 20 minutes
Figure about $25 00 per hour using existing vehicles Could require maximum of
so many trips per month and so much per trip not to exceed so much per hour
2 Fare Simplification After discussion of alternatives to make fares
simpler for passengers to pay and drivers to collect, it was decided to postpone
any change until a more thorough analysis can be made of the impact Leave as
is for this year Try to determine percentage of Senior Citizen passholders
3 Map and Flyer Production Map being produced by Erna Greene, ads being
sold Suggested flyer themes of stability, sameness Adapt cartoon from book
cover contest winners, riding into the future Check legality of using or see
if David Berger would do inside drawing too
4 School Busing Update Legislation still pending that would affect busing
Concern about budget Can we combine needs? MBTA is conducting meeting to
address request for increased bus service in Waltham Contractor E Gibbs
indicates solution may be to combine new service to Waltham with increased
LEXPRESS service to meet overflow of students Would MBTA give us $80,000 for
bus? What would be cost for one bus all day? To go out to bid for separate
contract?
5 Marketing Reviewed sample of previous wallet card and similar one from
Burlington Do again but have places of interest in color? Can we do school
schedule again with map on reverse side, as is, not with routes as 11111 , 22222,
etc o This time for Diamond and Clarke too Take map to Charettes and see if
they can take photo of and reduce to 8 1/2 x 11 What were other suggestions
from kids when we met a couple of years ago? Ask Eric to give us his present
marketing plans and we will respond--he had suggested theme days, once a month
deals, specials for senior citizens S Castleman suggested Discovery Day thank
you letter to E Gibbs go to Minuteman
