TOWN REPORT ARTICLE
Committee members discussed the focus of the article about Lexpress in
the 1991 Town Report P Burke gave members a draft of the article that
she wrote. The focus of the draft was the professionalism of the service.
There was general agreement that "professionalism at the lowest possible
cost" should be stressed. P. Burke stated that members should take the
draft article home to study and final comments would be due by Monday,
December 23.
UPDATES
Map and Flyer Receipts
P Burke reported receipts in the amount of $1,029.42 for the new map.
This is up from $700 last year We were very successful in selling
advertising and printing costs were lower Erna Green obtained a
favorable rate from D. S. Graphics and, of course, we did not have to
change the map as we did last year
Free Service Donated by A-Connoisseur, Nov 30
Free service was donated by A. Connoisseur on Saturday, November 30.
P Burke did not have ridership figures for the day, but reported that
it was busier than a regular Saturday (This was the day that one bus was
hit by a pick up truck on Peacock Farm Road with $7,000 damage being done
to the bus. The driver of the truck admitted that he was at fault and is
insured. ) P. Burke stated that E. Gibbs told her that if A. Connoisseur
donates service again, he would like to put an ad in the Minute-Man to
attract more publicity than the article that was in the paper this year
Flyers announcing this free Lexpress day were distributed in the middle
schools and it was on the message board in the high school S. Arnold
stated the the Committee should write a letter to the Minute-man thanking
A. Connoisseur for the free day
Additional Holiday Mall Service, Including Sunday Afternoon
S. Arnold advised the Committee that the Burlington Mall agreed to
provide a subsidy for service on Friday and Saturday evenings as well as
on Sunday afternoons for the four week-ends prior to Christmas. The
Lexington Chamber of Commerce was not willing to contribute for extra
service this year However, as businesses in the Center supported Lexpress
by advertising on the map, it was decided that this justified crediting
them with supporting extra holiday service. Some of the advertising revnue
would be applied to paying for the extra hours of service. S. Arnold and
W. Mix agreed to meet with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and
attempt to improve our relationship with them.

IVECO/LEXPRESS FLEET VEHICLE
The issue of how long to use and how much to pay for use of the Iveco
bus remains. E. Gibbs wrote four letters to P Burke dated December 6
outlining many options available to provide a permanent solution to the
problem. Committee members were provided copies of these letters and
attempted to discuss the options set forth, but decided to take the
letters home for careful review before attempting to make any further
decisions.
LONG RANGE PLAN FOR TOWN MEETING
Due to the lateness of the hour, it was agreed to postpone discussion of
long range plan for town meeting.
The committee members voted to ADJOURN the regular session of the meeting
and go into an executive session.
Respectfully submitted,
J.)
