The Town Office building will be reducing the heat to 55 degrees in the late afternoon. We will need to dress warmly for future meetings. It was asked if we could meet in the Police Station Library in the future. Pauline Burke wasn't sure if that was possible. 2. Bill Mix spoke to Rick White about the hours P. Burke has been putting in for LEXPRESS. Mix explained that in preparing the budget, some committee members felt that there should be money included to pay Burke full time, since she is putting in full time hours. Mix asked whether the committee could recommend that she be put on full time. Rick said it would be helpful to have a letter from the committee to that effect. All members at the meeting supported this, so Mix will write a letter explaining that in the last year Pauline has had to: -prepare four bid proposals (3 for LEXPRESS, one for chair car service) -deal with override issues, including the preparation of two budgets -institute a fare increase -change to a six route system, As a result, she has been working a minimum of 38 hours a week, and still has not been able to address some of the routine matters in the office. Furthermore, she needs to be helping with the transition to a new contrator in January, we will need help in evaluating the impacts of the fare increase and the route changes, and we need to evaluate the need for additional chair car service. 3. P. Burke explained that Eldorado Transportation had raised some legal questions regarding the bid process, and was taking the Town to court. There was to be a hearing at 2 p.m. the next day. 4. The committee reviewed some preliminary budget figures presented by Burke. It was decided that there needed to be additional funding for possible fuel increases and the potential need to expand chair car service. Despite this increase, the low bid received from A Connoisseur allows for a 3% budget reduction, as requested from the Town Manager. 5. The committee reviewed a draft of the goals for the LEXPRESS office. Some were reworded, but the committee agreed with the concepts presented by Burke. The goals include a committment to work with the Enablement Committee to determine the best way to meet the transportation needs of Lexington citizens who cannot use Lexpress. 6. Burke reported that A-Connoisseur had made its second deposit on the new buses. They are expected in early December. E. Gibbs of A-Conn has decided that full driver uniforms are too expensive, but he will explore alternatives such as jackets or sweaters. He is getting a pool of drivers lined up. 7. Burke has not yet contacted the Burlington Mall about its funding the mall bus on Friday and Saturday evenings, as in the past. She will do this. She also said we will need to use an extra mall bus more frequently than in the past because of the reduced number of routes. With 8 routes she could use Route 5 to back up the mall bus on an occasional as-needed basis. That is no longer an available option. 8. Burke would like some ideas for marketing the arrival of the new buses. { 1
