•
Present were: Bill Mix, Sally Castleman, Sara Arnold, Dick Zimmerman, Marion
Mullally, John Quirk, Pauline Burke
I. Fare Increase
. Discussion on recommendation for fare increase effective July 1
. Two new fare categories were created--Students (age 6-18) and Adults
(age 19-64). This was so the Senior Citizen fare could be raised
to an amount less than half of Adult fare, an MBTA requirement.
. Keeping 20% increase in mind, Committee went over each proposed fare:
increased some to 40% or 50% (Seniors and Adults), decreased others
(Student 6 Mos pass and book of tickets) , one stayed the same
(surcharge to Burlington for Adults and Students) .
. One factor was the amount of change needed to transfer or go to
Burlington.
. Concern also raised about impact on ridership.
. Complete listing of fare increases attached.
. Pauline will write memo to Rick detailing recommendation.
. On agenda for Selectmen's meeting June 4, Bill and maybe Sally to
attend to answer questions
II. Discovery Day
. Saturday, May 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
. Free rides within Lexington approved, re-routing to Meriam Street
lot same as last year
. Pauline tried to get the Chamber to make new signs for the outside
of the buses. John Theriault, Chamber exec. sec. , said they have
limited budget this year.
. Table with information and maps to be given out--usually new pass
and summer schedule information. This year Committee may give out
flyer on impact of override vote.
. Spare bus in taxi stand questioned. Mr. Zimmerman indicated he had
not received notice and wasn't inclined to provide bus at this point.
